Klavon's has simply the best pizza anywhere.  The wait times on the weekends are a diversion if you are looking for the best pizza.  Any pizza  combination will be among the best you have ever experienced, but on occasion you must try the stuffed pizza.  Wow!  The rest of the menu features first class burgers and other sandwiches.  If you enjoy a salad with your pizza or burger, try the chipolte ranch dressing.  The atmosphere is upscale sports bar, with a TV in every booth and large screens over the bar.  I agree with other comments that the wait can be annoying, but understand the goal.
Review Source:Klavon's is a good Pizzeria hands down with a wide variety of dishes, pizza pies and wings. Portions are generous. You don't go to a Pizzeria for the salads, you go for their delicious chicago style pizza! (Very generous in portions)
The staff is friendly however, I have found them to be a little shy when greeting customers for pick up orders. All of the staff I have met are neat, good looking and well mannered. The seating is very good since a lot of other pizzerias hardly have enough seats to accommodate large families. Klavon's is very busy on weekends and game days and on some random evenings. (There will be a wait for seating on the weekends, so be patient) The parking lot is always full, during regular dinner hours.
I hope my review helps you to all who read it and leads to a great experience.
I've been here many times, but wanted to share my latest experience. I went to Klavon's last night with my brother, his wife, their daughter, and his wife's mother. I don't know why we decided to meet there at 6PM...they are always packed on Friday and Saturday night (btw, can't wait for the new store to open in 2013.) We decided that waiting an hour to be seated wasn't too bad since none of us was starving and it was a nice night to wait outside, and to be honest, the stuffed pizza is worth the wait!
So, we waited an hour to get in. Then, we waited an hour for our food. We shared a few of their superb appetizers while we waited; so, that hour passed pretty quickly. It was then that a floor manager came over to inform us that our pizza got "lost." They started a new one as soon as they figured it out and it would be out in about 15 minutes.
We never complained, because they never gave us a chance to complain. Apologies were offered and the situation was corrected BEFORE we had a chance to ask if something was wrong. The management handle it professionally without being pressured to handle it. That's PROACTIVE service and a great business model. This is why I'll continue to enjoy Klavon's. Thanks for the great service! Always love it there, even on a night when it doesn't always go as planned. :)
In regards to the food, their stuffed pizza is the best I've ever had (and, yes, I've had the stuff from Chicago...Klavon's is better.)
Pizza is great. Â Salads too...especially the Michigan chicken salad. Â They also have sandwiches and I've not had a bad meal there. Â Takeout too. Â This business is local, and they care about their customers. Once we forgot to take home our leftovers and returned to find they had put them into the refrigerator for us. Â Nice atmosphere with flat screen TVs in all booths as well as large ones on the walls. Â Â Gets very busy at dinner time on weekends. Â Try an earlier time for faster seating.
Review Source:I have been here numerous times and make a point to go at least once every two weeks. Â I brought my mom here and now she constantly wants to go as well. Â My friends and I love this place. Â I have had one or two things on the menu that were just alright but most of the time, the food is excellent. Â I highly recommend the burgers and the appetizers.
Staff friendliness - 4.5/5
Food taste - 4.5/5
Atmosphere - 5/5
Value / "Bang for the buck" - 4.5/5
Menu selection - 4/5
Really good Chicago-style pizza in an out-of-the-way place. Â I went there with coworkers and we all enjoyed the beer and mixed drinks selection, too. Â The appetizers (wings and fried cheese sticks) were also quite good.
Highly recommended if you have a real taste for Chicago pizza and find yourself in the hinderlands of Michigan.
Went here for dinner after a long day on the lake. Â This place has great deep dish pizza. It has the type of slices that can get you full off of only 2. It was a great meal and a pleasant surprise for the first time I ate here. Â Each booth has their own TVs, which is cool and overall, I think there is enough TVs in the place to never miss a second of a game. I'll go back when I am around Jackson in the future and I recommend trying the deepdish if you are looking for some good pizza.
Review Source:I was fully prepared to let my bad experience here go until I heard the same exact story from multiple other people.
We had heard a lot of buzz about this place so we decided to try it. Â We had a large group so we called to see if they did reservations, they do not but they told us they had call ahead seating. Â So we put down 15 people for call ahead. Â We waited the hour and a half they told us to wait and then all loaded up and headed out there.
When we got there we were told that another large group had come in and it would be ANOTHER hour and a half. Â When we asked them about our "call ahead" they skirted around it basically telling us that its just a suggestion they kind of go by. Â Apparently this is common practice as I have now heard stories from 2 other people saying they had the same thing happen to them. Â Called ahead for seating, showed up and it was not honored and they had to sit there and wait.
Word to Klavon's- if you aren't going to honor call ahead seating then just don't do it. You are only driving away customers.
So we just ended up ordering some pizza to go and taking it back to our house. Â Our bill totaled about $80. Â We were splitting it between 2 people, one with card and one with cash. Â Well they took our cash and charged the full amount on the card. Â Luckily when my husband realized this in the morning, they did refund us the money. Â Over all a complete nightmare.
The ONLY reason they are getting 2 stars is because their pizza did taste good. Â But they seriously need to get the restaurant side under control.
For a bar/grill, I was pleasantly surprised to find a classy atmosphere that was smoke free.
The food menu very good, and the quality of the food was above average for a bar/grill. I ordered an Asian salad and it was very tasty, and it had fresh ingredients.
I'll certainly stop by here again and suggest this for any regular outing.
To say I was surprised by this restaurant would be an understatement. It is located preffy much in the middle of nowhere. That doesn't stop it from being a great place. The sheer number of flat screen TV's showing sports had me hypnotized from the start. The beer kept me hooked. The deep dish pizza sealed the deal, and the 20+ martinis was just the icing on the cake. Although is is small in size, Klavons is large on content. Check it out if you are near Jackson for some great pizza.
