Visited early on a Friday afternoon and had a great meal. We were looking for a Texas steak house experience for cheaper money than in Austin and it did not disappoint. The friendly owner sat and chatted with us. Portions were good sized although we had not one bite of leftovers. The bar looked like it'd be fun to come back to at night. Not 5 stars because our server was indifferent and detached. Had to chase her down in the bar, where she was texting on her cell phone, to pay the check and that pisses me off. Otherwise fabulous!
Review Source:Visited on Tuesday evening so not crowded. Â Best part of our meal was the Chicken Noodle soup of the day. Well seasoned and made with tiny noodles which was different. Probably should have gotten steak since this is a steakhouse, but we didn't. My fried shrimp was very heavily breaded and my husband's grilled catfish was doused in a heavy oil of some kind. Service and portion size was adequate. Â Recommend sticking with the chicken noodle soup and try the steaks.
Review Source:Order the Heartbrand steak! Eating this steak. it was buttery, it was rich, it was perfect. At Kloesels everything is prepared pretty simply but their steak seasoning's emphasis perfection is palpable . The steak was so good i couldn't even eat any of the rest of my meal. It was like nothing else could besmirch my lips. It actually made me angry that I ate it so early in my lifetime. There will be so few meals that will ever compare. Offhand comments people make like "this is the best ever!" will sound hollow to me now. It was so good that I literally cried describing it to my friend and fellow wannabe foodie. Â If this sounds over the top its just because the steak actually was.
Review Source:Ah! Â The lengths I will go to just to score a FTR! Â Hahaha!
Another business travel find.  One of the only great joys of flying from small town to small town for 48 hour client visits is finding neat little out of the way places like Kloesel's.  The more I travel, the more I realize that almost every town has at least one little nugget of gold hiding somewhere.  A good guide or  a good nose can turn a long and lonely week around with one good meal.
Kloesel's is FULL of good meals. Â First, it is a quaint little place in a quaint little town. Â It has the look, feel and humor of a nice family restaurant. Â I wouldn't call it elegant or fancy, but the effort is there and it makes for a nice, homey, comfortable dining experience. Â
The staff is friendly, bordering on sassy and the service was timely and courtious. Â
But the real story is the steak. Â Oh my, the steak. Â There were 10 of us at the table ordering varied cuts and every single one of us walked away happy with the cut and the preparation. Â Some said that it was the best steak they ever had. Â I'm not sure I want to go THAT far, but still this steak could go head-to-head with any of the high end chain steakhouses. Â
So, if you find yourself in this corner of Texas stop in and count yourself lucky!
