We snuck in here on a weekday morning to have a drink. Â It definitely has that 'dive bar' feel. Â All the other patrons seemed to know each other. The waitress was really nice and gave us a lot of ideas on drinks. Â We even got tips from the locals on what to do with our time in Kona. Â If you're looking for a break from resort style bars, this is fun beach option.
Review Source:The term "locals only" doesn't do Kona Town Tavern justice. Here you'll find the football game on, cheap beers, and a crew of locals bellied up to the bar. For those from out of town, this might seem intimidating, but the staff is friendly and the customers are generally nice.
We stopped in after lunch at Kona Brewing. We snagged  a seat on their make shift outdoor patio (BTW I love the retro fake brick facade!).
Again, this place is nothing special, but if you're looking for a dive bar off the Ali'i drive, it doesn't get any better than this.
