A few weeks ago my Dad, my b/f, and myself woke up desperately hungry for some food. Â I should mention that we were in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in the off season... which means that there are almost no options for food. Â So, that being said we fired up our gadgets and hit the internet. Â And by we I mean the b/f and I because my Dad can barely operate his flip phone. Â I digress...
We were staying at the Root Cellar Inn (which I will be reviewing later...it's FANTASTIC) which was about 20 minutes from Ewen and 20 minutes from Wakefield. Â Ewen doesn't have anything really so we headed to Wakefield to the Korner Kitchen because at this point I was beginning to nibble on my phone. Â
Cute, tiny little building - if you blink you will miss it. Â Walked in and a very friendly waitress said we could sit anywhere. Â She brought both the lunch and breakfast menus because I never know what I want. Â They had a lot of choices - I was pretty surprised. Â I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with scrambled eggs and toast...I needed the grease... Â IT WAS FABULOUS. Â Home made with love for sure. Â Their bread was also fresh from a local bakery and I'm certain I could have eaten a whole loaf. Â Dad and the b/f both got the standard eggs, ham, bacon. Â The b/f also got french toast and it was so yummy. Â
This place got 5 stars for these reasons:
It was remarkably clean
The staff was very friendly
The food was fresh and REALLY delicious
It was fairly priced
We plan on going back when we head back up to the Yoop later this summer. Â If you are in the area, check it out!
