After being featured on the news in Tulsa, I drove out to give the place a try. Interesting place with better food than the other reviews claim. Ordered the cheese burger with fries and I must say it was one of the better burgers and fries I've had. Nothing about the place was dirty, everything was fine. Friendly wait staff and excellent service. This will be one place to go when I feel like getting out of town.
Review Source:The Kumback has been on the cozy town square in Perry OK since the mid twenties. Â A lot of the cute decor is from the 1950's. Â The walls are crowded with pictures & newspaper clippings. Â Back in the day, gangster Pretty Boy Floyd came through the door & ordered the owner to lock it. Â He didn't rob the joint. Â He just wanted the biggest steak in the house. Â The night we were there, the 60mph wind kept pushing the door open & blowing the geraniums hanging in the windows. Â I like meatloaf. Â Their meatloaf was the second worst I have ever tasted. And the brown gravy was the worst. Â Strange stuff. Â My husband got chicken fried steak. Â He said it was good. Â The white gravy looked anemic. Â The mashed potatoes were passable. Â The canned green beans were cooked to death with onion and bacon, mid- western style. Â On the other hand, Â the fresh strawberry pie was 4 star. Â You don't have too many choices in Perry.
Review Source:Historic restaurant in small town atmosphere of Perry, OK. Â Art Deco decor combined with diner-style menu offerings. Surprising that quite a few Mexican dishes were on menu.
My open face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was decent. Â Philly steak sandwich looked good and came with generous portion of tasty French fries. Â Beef nachos were average but platter was good sized. Homemade pies were good, we tried the custard and peach.
Portion size and prices are very good. Â Service is okay.
