I grew up in Southern California, have traveled around the Southwestern US and have lived in New York City for almost 20 years, but it took a trip to Elkhart, Indiana for me to discover the joys of this place and it's incredible ice cream treats.
Discovered it by chance while driving over to Heinnie's to sample their legendary hamburger (the two businesses are located on the same street, just a few blocks apart).
The mango chili ice pop is outstanding -- creamy, sweet mango and spicy chili together. There are dozens of other ice cream bars available, too. Friends tried the ice cream. A cheese flavor (?), sounded odd, but was delicious. Another friend sampled I think a berries and cream and gave it the thumbs up.
This place was a real treat to discover...Now I have to find my fix of paletas in New York!
