Portions are ridiculously large, so plan on splitting or taking home.
My wife and I got the loaded potato skins app and needless to say... we could have stopped there, but we're real Yelpers, so no way :)
The brisket on the skins was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Â There was enough on the app portion to feed a family of 4. We took 2 home.
The chicken salad was my choice and beware that there's enough food in it to choke a cow! That being said... it was also delicious and my favorite plate of food. I took about 2/3 in a to go box, but what I did eat was amazing and memorable. Smokey piles of chicken and very lightly dressed with mayo and walnuts, allowing the smoke and seasoning to shine.
The soup du jour was cauliflower and white cheddar that was seasoned perfectly. And very smooth.
My wife got the bacon, cheddar cheese better burger and was very satisfied. The fries were great too.
Overall, a must visit if you're in the area! Well priced too
I was there for lunch one day and Sunday Brunch. The pulled pork sandwich was great smokey sweet pork piled high with great fries. My wife had the Brisket which was just as good. Brunch for $12.95 was fantastic smoked turkey and wonderful three cheese potatoes that made me go back for more. Beautiful building and great views. I must go back in the fall. The Berry cobbler was awesome.
Review Source:I tried this place for the first time last week. I must say this place is amazing. The staff is very friendly. The service is quick. The food is delicious. I tried the smoked prime rib and it was out of this world delicious. The prices were very consistent with the quality. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area.
Review Source:Very pleased with the service and the food here.
We were moving our daughter in at Ohio U and wanted to get a good meaty dinner after a hard day's work. We decided to visit based on the Yelp reviews and the only disappointment was that the view of the lake wasn't as fabulous as I had anticipated.
I had the "Pride of the Pit"- brisket, pork ribs and turkey( special that day). The turkey attracted me to order this and it was moist and tender. The ribs had a little mor char than I would prefer, but were very good. The sauce with the ribs was sweet, just as I prefer it. It came with a choice of two sides ( baked potato & green beans) that were better than most places plus some good slaw and a soft bun. You will notice I didn't comment on the brisket- I brought it home so I could save room for dessert.
My wife had the Moonville Chicken Salad. It was more chicken than mayo, with a nice mix of cherries and almonds thrown in. It was a very good sized portion. Cantaloupe and honeydew melon were also on the plate.
My daughter had the brisket- a huge portion, plus corn, and the slaw. She was very pleased as well.
Dessert was a house specialty- a s'more! We all shared and it was enough for the three of us. It came in a pan bigger than a frying pan- and the marshmallow is house made.
With an appetizer, three dinners ( and enough leftovers for 3 lunches) and dessert it came to $63. I know prices are cheaper here than at home in California, but this was well worth the money. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.....
We were pleasantly surprised after convincing the rest of the family to try the restaurant at the new lodge. Â One of the best briskets we've eaten---this coming from a North Carolinian whose state worships barbecue. This is the real deal. Â Great price, great view, great food and service. Â Worth trying are the smoked brisket sandwich and the Pride of the Pit sampler plate of 3 smoked meats: Â pulled pork, ribs and brisket. Â The macaroni and cheese was also very good.
Review Source:Had dinner with a 9 family members at Lake Hope Dining Lodge on March 21. The service was tremendous, and the food was wonderful. I had the rib basket, which contained about a quarter rack of well-smoked, extremely meaty, fall-off-the-bone ribs. My brother had the brisket, which he declared to be the best he had ever had in Ohio. As someone who has lived in Texas and Kansas City, I am picky about barbeque, and these folks know how to do it well! My father had the strip steak, which he said was great. My wife had the salad with brisket on it, and raved about it.
The new dining lodge is beautiful. They have done a beautiful job of incorporating some design elements that remind you of the old lodge, but everything is modern and inviting. The chef came out to say hi and check on the food, which was great.
You won't go wrong here...
We have not had lunch or dinner there yet but the Sunday morning brunch is the best you will ever find. Price is very reasonable for the selection and quality if food served. The buffet style all you can eat is a plus. Staff/service is excellent. DO NOT miss the Cinnamon Rolls served at Sunday brunch, they melt in your mouth.
Review Source:We had dinner at the Lake Hope Lodge last night. Â It was fabulous. Â EVERYTHING is homemade. Â Food is fairly priced, locally sourced, and delicious. Â Nice Wine & Beer selection. Â Chefs were working the room. Â New space is gorgeous. Â Went on the recommendation many local friends who were raving about it. Â It met my high expectations. Â I highly recommend.
Ya gotta try the S'more - Homade graham cracker, Hershey's chocolate bar, and homemade marshmallow.that's been torched to that campfire brown. Â OMG it's good!!
Read about this place in the Dispatch and drove down on an usually sunny January day to try it. Â Were we 100% satisfied. Â Despite the fact that they were unexpectedly slammed the staff was friendly, courteous and made the best of a tough situation. Â Food was excellent comfort food with a few nice twists, well prepared and served and in generous portions. My Mac n Cheese with smoked meat morsels was excellent. Â I would have preferred slightly larger pasta than the very small elbow macaroni but this is picking nits. Â My wife's ribs were the best we have had in Ohio. Â Very nicely smoked. Â Not quite fall-off-the-bone tender but not at all tough and the flavor was excellent. Our shared mixed-berry cobbler was the only off note. Â Flavor was good but too much sugar or overcooking had made it too sticky. Â The rest of the menu was very appealing and we had a tough time deciding on what to order. Â All the plates we saw looked luscious. Â They have an unexpectedly good beer list, strong on Ohio craft brews and an acceptable and short wine list. Â They stress Ohio products, which is always a treat. Â Our waiter was very nice if very inefficient. The other waitstaff did not seem to suffer from his lack of coordination. Â The hostess was a gem. Â After lunch we viewed some of the cabins and in this location and at these prices we will be back to spend a weekend snuggled up in front of a fire with good food close by. Â A real winner.
