Service was excellent here - real southern hospitality. Food was great and cocktails were good (but a bit expensive). Very happy to have made this the first place to eat in Louisanna.

From beginning to end an absolutely fantastic experience! We started with fried green tomatoes served with a slightly spicy ranch dipping sauce followed by our amazing entree of Catfish Opelousas and ended with an amazing bread pudding with meringue and rum sauce. Shout out to our knowledgable, friendly and attentive server, Aimee!

So delicious! The fried green tomatoes are scrumptious and the Catfish Opelousas was absolutely amazing!!  I also recommend the bread pudding! Great service too!

I'll keep this review simple and quick: The food and service are great! I had the crab and the wife had the fried oysters. The oysters were probably our favorite. The only thing I thought could have been better were the rabbit hush-puppies. The batter was great but where was the rabbit?? I was told that they use a food processor on the rabbit....I found some in the hushpuppy but not enough to want to purchase it again.

On my road trip last week, I stopped in Nachitoches, LA to have a quick lunch. This place was surely an eye opener. The menu was far from anything I would normally order. As I looked over the menu, I read "fried green tomatoes." Other options I read were: Oyters, meat pies and fried alligator. I had to order the sampler because I was intrigued by the choices. Therefore, a little bit of everything seemed like the right choice to make.

Everything was delicious, even though my health conscious was screaming, "don't eat all that fried food!" My taste buds weren't upset.

Very nice ambience at The Landing.

Average food, average setting, above average prices.

Wait staff is friendly and accommodating. Drinks stayed full, and with our family of five, that is a difficult task.

We started with an appetizer sample platter. The meat pies were okay.. the filling had an odd slimy texture. The flavor was good, if you could get past the texture - my kids couldn't. Fried alligator was good, and not at all chewy. The fried green tomatoes were crisp and tart.

My husband and i each ordered a side salad. I can not say that iceberg lettuce swimming in dressing, plated with one slice of cucumber, one cherry tomato, one black olive, and three croutons was worth the additional $3.50.

I ordered the catfish oppalusous, which was a fried (grilled or blackened were also options) catfish fillet on a bed of white rice, topped with crawfish ettouffe. The ettouffe was a little bland, but the catfish was perfect.

The kids shared the alligator ettouffe, and definitely got full, with a lot of leftovers to take home.

Our bill totaled $99 for four soft drinks, an appetizer, and three entrees. I've definitely had better seafood for that price.

We took our leftovers, and the waiter asked if we'd like a bag for our boxes. He promptly brought out a standard brown paper bag, which, by the way, did not fit the to-go boxes.

Oh, The Landing, I had such high hopes, but you let me down. The service was outstanding & the ambiance was pretty good, but the food.. How can you serve famous Natchitoches Meat Pies AND crab cakes that are not made in-house?

Your bacon wrapped boudin is very good, and your sauces are great, but, I'm so disappointed in your entrees.

Honestly, I feel like you owe me an apology, after dropping $90 ($105 w/tip) for food that wasn't made in your restaurant.  Maybe my expectation were just too high?

My daughter and I stopped by at noon on a Friday after leaving two other restaurants that were overcrowded due to the lunch rush.  There were few customers at The Landing, with only four other table being occupied.  The atmosphere was sedate.  There was no loud music to talk over.  Our server was attentive and pleasant.

We both ordered from their lunch menu.  I chose grilled shrimp and my daughter selected alligator etouffee.  The grilled shrimp was served with cole slaw and french fries (although I substituted onion rings), while the etouffee was served on a bed of rice with a side of cole slaw.

I was very disappointed in the grilled shrimp.  Normally, a lunch size portion is 6 shrimp.  At The Landing it is only 4 shrimp (medium shrimp, not very large).  The cole slaw had an unusual flavor that I did not like.  The onion rings were thick slices of fried onion and tasted just OK.  There were four of these, too, but, due to their size, that was plenty.

The alligator etouffee was decent, but not terrific.  Normally, etouffee is not a real spicy dish and this was over-spiced in my opinion.  I would not chose this dish in the future.

I felt that the grilled shrimp was overpriced, but the etouffee was reasonable (since there was a large portion).

This was my third trip to The Landing, but will probably be my last.  The dishes are overpriced for the portion size.  I can get food of equal or better quality at some of the other local restaurants, or prepare a better dish at home.

I loved it! We got many recommendations from locals. The gator tail Ettouffee is a bit too tomato-y, and the batter on the alligator was spicy. It was a great meal and we had great service from Deann.

Very good food.  I had the Crabcake Hurricane, and it was divine.  My husband, who doesn't eat any seafood, had the Kent's Ultimate fillet ,and he very much enjoyed it.  The sampler platter on the appetizer menu was a great way to taste many of the local specialties for one low price.  This place really is nice enough to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, but it's casual enough to take you kids.

the wife and I were driving south on I49, on the way to new orleans.  saw the sign for natchitoches and I mentioned it was famous for meat pies.  I wasn't expecting that she'd soon have me changing our course to new orleans so she could try these famous meat pies.

trip to new orleans on hold, the wife searching yelps...  directed me here.

the meat pies were good!  I mean, it's a natchitoches meat pie, I've had many in my life.  never had a bad one....  but the landing also served up some delicious fried oysters and fried green tomatoes.  prices were fair.

we eventually made it to new orleans, and now my wife can confidently say she's had authentic natchitoches meat pies.

The service and food are excellent. Prices are very reasonable. The seating is somewhat limited, but it is worth the wait. Try the blackened Opelousas catfish. Moderately spicy and delicious.

We (two kids, two adults) had a great meal here last week!  Server Amy was super-friendly and attentive, though she admitted to being a little scatter-brained (and this was a little bit true).  Fried green tomatoes were yummy (though one of our group has had better).  Gumbo was awesome, steak was excellent; grits and quail were amazing!!!  Sauce was too salty, though....and I like salt!  Desserts were great - brownie supreme (name?) was especially yummy.  Ambience was nice - a little too dark, perhaps.  Overall, very nice experience.

We went for lunch on a week day which is a pretty safe (i.e. slow) time to visit this historic city.

The restaurant has nice decor that seems to be outdoorsman meets 18th century Louisiana.  There is iron fencing throughout that you might find in the garden district in New Orleans or other historic cities mixed with fishing and outdoor pics and memorabilia along the walls.

I got the tuna sandwich which was not cooked as consistent as I would have liked.  They cut the sandwich in half when plating and half of the tuna was medium well while the other half was well done.  My mom got their version of the BLT and enjoyed it.

I did like that they weren't too pushy.  Usually lunch places assume you are in a  hurry and get you out the door quickly.  We told  our waiter that we were just walking around the city and he wasn't too pushy.

Don't come here expecting good cajun food. The crawfish etoufee was touted as "some of the best" on yelp but I found it to be subpar. Not enough rice, tails too small, not spicy enough. The fried green tomatoes were too greasy and did not taste right. The gator tail was extremely salty and also extremely greasy. I was not a fan for the expense. The service however was good, wine selection and beer selection also good.

Service Food and Drinks are good.  A little more creative menu would put them in the League.

The Landing personifies Natchitoches, Louisiana hospitality and cooking!

The Landing overlooks The Cane River off Front Street.  Kent Gresham, the Chef & Owner of The Landing, is the son of  the famous American Writer, Sportsman, Outdoor Sports Photographer & Journalist, Grits Gresham.

The dining room @ The Landing is filled with Gresham's photography & paintings.  We decided to beat the dinner crowd and eat an early dinner @ 4:30 pm.  We were able to walk around the restaurant and look at all the memorabilia and photography that fills the walls @ The Landing.  It's Amazing!

We ordered the Crab Artichoke Dip for starters.....Absoloutly Delicious!    My husband ordered the chicken / alligator gumbo....very good!  We both ordered Kent's Ultimate Filet Dinner.....an 8 oz.  Filet served atop a bed of Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Creamed Spinach topped with Bernaise Sauce and surrounded with Fried Shrimp (Husband had fried oysters).....cooked to perfection!   We didn't have any room for dessert but they all looked yummy.  The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

The Dining Room is beautifully decorated w/ South Louisiana decor..... intimate and romantic.    We look forward to dining @ The Landing the next time we are in Natchitoches.

Located on the Cane River.  Serves traditional Southern and Louisiana cuisine.

I stopped for lunch at around 12:45 and was seated immediately at a table surrounded by Southern Louisiana decor. I had the 4 oz salmon with clarified butter served on the side, dirty rice and broccoli with hollandaise sauce.  For dessert I had chocolate silk pie.  The salmon was a bit dry. The broccoli was slightly overcooked yet delicious as are most vegetables prepared in southern style. The dirty rice was mild in spice and big in flavor.  The chocolate silk pie was every bit as good French silk pie I remember from childhood that was once almost ubiquitous in southern restaurants.

Overall a good experience. Seems like a great place for tourists and locals alike and had me wishing I could bring my friends from out of state to experience the atmosphere and share a fun meal.

During our annual trip to visit Sarah's family in Louisiana, we decided to stop and have Christmas Eve dinner in old town Natchitoches. The traditional place to have this dinner is The Landing, which is a beautiful little brick restaurant right over looking the river.

I tried the famous Natchitoches Meat Pies, which were delicious, and Sarah had a bowl of gumbo. I took a sip, and boy was it flavored nicely!

One of the best places to eat in Natchitoches.  I love thier fried green tomatoes and their Mahi Mahi is to die for.  The only suggestion I would have for them is to have more variety in thier tea.  Flavored tea is a MUST for any nice restaurant.
