Just came back from trying to eat breakfast/lunch at Laura's Kitchen.  What a disaster.  Service got off to a slow start.  Partially understandable because the staff was canceling an order of 6-7 people who got tired of waiting and left.  We should have taken a clue.  Waited it out and ordered.  My wife and I both ordered breakfast.  The wife ordered biscuits and gravy.  About 5-7 mins later the waitress came back...they were out of biscuits.  Over the course of our stay we noted they were out of at least 3 items on the menu.  The waitress asked my wife to reorder without providing a menu.  After my wife got her menu the waitress left.  She walked by the table 5 times after my wife put the menu down and did not take her order.  Due to the length of time between when I ordered and she ordered we pretty much knew what was coming next and the staff did not disappoint us...you guessed it... I got my order and the wife got nothing.  We watched as the entree my wife ordered was served to two other people who came in after us.  I was finished eating and wife had been saying to me for some time that she wanted her order to go so we could just get out of the place.  We were trying to be positive and were actually laughing at the whole thing until...  The waitress finally arrived with my wife's order...and it was wrong.  More importantly, as she put it on the table she told us she had accidentally typed in the wrong order and asked if we wanted to wait longer while they corrected the error.  We waited while she boxed up the wrong order because we just wanted out of the place at this point.  We asked for, but were never provided a ticket so we could check on what we were being charged for...but the total price was about right for a bill with charges for all we ordered...including the wrong order...and no discount for the terrible experience for which the waitress kept apologizing.

Also of note, I had ordered a side of pancakes that was delivered to the table without syrup or butter.  When we asked for syrup...it was brought to us by what appeared to be the manager straight from the frig in the gallon size containers you buy at the supermarket.  The waitress later came over with one of the table syrup dispensers you typically see in a diner...but she never put it on the table and left with it without swapping it out for the gallon container of syrup.

As for the food, one of the eggs was overcooked.  The bacon was average at best.  However, the hash browns were actually pretty good.  The pancakes we OK.  All-in-all...not bad but not great either.

The wife and I recognize that any restaurant can have a bad day and we have a 2 chance rule.  If all is bad the first time we visit a restaurant we will try it again.  This isn't baseball...so 2 strikes and you're out.  Laura's is the first restaurant in 30 years that is out with us after one strike.

    Edit---9 Feb 2013
We never went back.  The place closed and has since reopened with a new name and new owners..
