My first time at this place. Stopped in at lunch time for a couple of beers last week. I was the only person in the place. Bartender was not terribly friendly and seemed a little "off"....like maybe she forgot to take her meds that day. Half way through my beer, and older gentleman came in and sat at the bar but didn't order any food or drinks. I didn't like the vibe so I decided to skip the second beer. I'll have to check out this place in the evening/weekend.....maybe the atmosphere is a little better.

I didn't think it could get worse but somehow it has! Dropped in for a laugh and got a big one. I'm 47 and I was the youngest person, by far! Was it geriatric night? There were people with walkers and rascals playing pool. It looked like happy hour at a rest home. No, I'm not kidding. We waited at the bar for about 10 minutes or so and never got served. Hell, no one even looked our way. We knew we weren't getting served any time soon, so, the band happened to be singing, "... give me one reason to stay here ... " I said, "I can't think of one," So we left, cracking up all the way home. Next time I need a good laugh I'll drop in again.

I love Chocolate Lava Cake. I think the lavaflows in Hawaii are really cool. Plus, I think there's something sexy about the word "Lava". Well, that's shot to hell now. Let's see, I'll summarize today's experience that this is not a top-tier place to watch sports. In bar terms, it's bottom shelf. Still in my search for a great NFL Sunday sports bar, trying out Lava Sports Lounge sure didn't suit up to expecations, and so the search continues.

The Scene === It's divey. On a Sunday for NFL football: about 10 smallish TV's with sound ON for 1 game, a pool table, and a bunch of old guys sitting around drinking in a half-lit bar. The whole place needs Viagra. Bowling is on one TV, enough said?

The Good === 40 draft beers, and a $2 Bloody Mary Sunday football offer.

The Bad === Breakfast burritos are normally great, right? How do you screw up an egg burrito w/bacon and cheese and a side of potatoes? Well, they managed to get it totally wrong. You can't cut up raw bacon, add to pan and add raw egg to it, stir, and throw it into a tortilla. The bacon was nearly raw! Yuck. I sent it back. The second version was slightly better, but the bacon was still barely cooked. Guys, you can't make it like ham. Teeny-tiny amount of potatoes, too. At least the presentation was fancy http://www.yelp.com/biz_…

The Disgusting === A customer was constantly clearing his flemmy throat - priceless, and my new diet plan: eat raw bacon, listen to flemmy throat clearing, and lose my appetite.

The service === one older bartender/waitress to serve the customers. She was very nice and worked hard, so she saves this rating from a being a 1-star.

New Breakfast Burrito motto === more potato and less raw bacon.

Just went to karaoke here for the first time. I went on a Thursday night, but they apparently have Monday night karaoke too. I'm DEFINITELY coming back.

The karaoke book was, honest-to-God, the biggest karaoke book I've ever seen. I'll take a picture next time I go, but it was HUGE. Two column pages, front and back, 10 point Arial, bursting out of a three- or four-inch fat binder. It only listed the songs By-Artist, so it wasn't like half the book was the songs listed By-Artist, and then the same songs listed By-Song. SO MANY SONGS.

Oh, and you didn't need a song number or anything. You just told them the song title and artist, and they put it on.

IT WAS AWESOME

The reason it's missing a star is that the crowd could be a bit better. This group had the lowest singer-to-crowd ratio I've ever seen. The bar wasn't all that full, but it seemed like most people were there to sing. Compared to San Francisco karaoke, which is the type I'm familiar with, this crowd was a lot less supportive. They had to be coaxed into applause, or any sort of reaction, really. I think it had to do with the layout of the bar?

But honestly, I'm going to be coming here again. And again and again and again. It is the easily best karaoke I've found in the Ventura County area (Golden China has a larger crowd, but a worse song selection).

Oh! And the Pear Cider I got here was good (a pint for about $6, with tip), and the staff was friendly and helpful. I like them a lot!

I hit this place up for the NFL on Sunday. I get to watch all the games that are on. Perfect hole in the wall for me. Not too loud. The regulars aren't obnoxious. No A-holes to deal with. I can watch my Niners in relative peace. Decent amount of drafts, good burgers and it's less than 1 mile from the house.

Haven't been here other for than for football, so I cannot comment on other days/nights here.

Awesome place to go when you kind of want to hide out and just chill. Bartender (Bonny) is extra friendly and very accommodating.

Basically, for those who rated 1 star, you need to know this. Yes, this is a sports lounge by day, but it's a club at night.
This place is pretty average. Got your pool tables, couple TVs, and a decent outside patio area(for the size of the lounge). Parking was plentiful, and if you still can't find a spot, there are a couple streets behind the lounge that are never crowded.
The girl working the bar was very nice considering how busy it was the night I was there. The live music/rapping was a good change for T.O, and it wasn't too loud like some crabby people complain about.
One thing I gotta bring up, they were out of 3-4 kinds of beer, and it was a bit crappy being they were my favorite kinds of beer I usually drink.
I'll be back here again if there's a cool event going on, but Akrey's Tavern is my goto for a local drink.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. I was here for lunch and a beer one afternoon and they were more thanhappy to able you to sample a few different beers. I really enjoyed the lava beer with seasoning. Nice finish to a great lager. Keep up the great service.

Best karaoke in the area! Every month there's a karaoke contest on the last monday (every monday before that is a qualifying round). Then besides that, Thursday nights are also open karaoke. The guy that runs the karaoke is always on-point and the sound levels are fantastic.. best I've heard at any karaoke. And my favorite part is that if I suggest that he turns the treble, mid, or bass up or down.. he does it! He's got soooo many songs too. Old and new.

The owner is very very nice. He's usually there talking to people and making sure everyone's good. Which is nice to see.

I've eaten there 2 times. Had the tacos and another time I had the chicken wrap. Both very good. Oh and the Lava sauce is amazing, it's like ranch but pumped up and perfectly spicy. The drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders are great.

I'd definitely consider myself a regular at Lava. Proud of it.

Oh and the pool tables are free! Woot!

I went here for lunch to give this place a shot. I was greeted by a banner announcing, "Bonnie's Back". I walked in and have to admit, I was impressed with the layout. The place is much cleaner and nicer than I expected. That's where things went south. Bonnie sits behind the bar, and picks at her teeth while she chats with her regular customers. She then brings me an ice water she pours from a sink in front of me. The water tasted like tea. Not sure if the glass was dirty or the water was dirty. I took one sip. I then watch as Bonnie uses a tooth pick on her teeth for 5 minutes over a ladies meal. Then she takes my order. My food is finally brought out from the kitchen by someone who looks far less than appetizing.

The food wasn't bad. Standard bar burger with over salty fries. The mexican bar food was nowhere to be seen on this limited menu.

There was a sense of entitlement amongst the 5 older customers that were there. One even could tell there was a new cook, much to Bonnie's chagrin. But she claims to have warned management, that because they put the old cook they would run off their 5 senior citizen customers. That is exactly what the place needs.

This place has great potential and could be great. Get some decent looking servers in there and younger business will follow. Expand the menu. Cater to real bar customers. Look down the street at the Goat. People don't go there for cheap drinks, they don't have any. People go there for the scene. Create a bar scene in your restaurant. Don't reinvent the wheel.

Went here tonight to see a friends band.
The Waitress /bartender was not at the top of her game didn't know the menu of the wine they had and when she poured the glass didn't tell us that that was the last one as they ran out. Food was mediocre at the best.
Prices were ok, they had happy hour on Sat evening which is unusual.
Bad was great, nice room for dancing all in all the evening was ok
But this is not on our selection for places to go without a reason.
Oh a little heavy on the security.

Famous Sports Bar is now Lava Sports Lounge.

Now serving pretty good Mexican bar food. The new owner Rigo added more TVs and upgraded the place.

Still have great deals on happy hour... still a great spot to grab a beer and catch a game... and yes, the LAKERS shrine is still there.

Not sure what days, but there's still live bands playing on any given night and karaoke on some other night.

Check it out for yourself.
