Portions are huge, everything is fresh & homemade, staff is friendly & helpful. Wide choice of menu items - all well done. Hubby had a Reuben that was at least 3" thick. Cole slaw was outstanding. Fries cut fresh on the spot.
Don't be discouraged by the exterior of the building. It looks like it used to be an old trading store from the late 1800's.
Excellent food in a small town environment.
At too many diners, you can tell the food is pre-frozen, pre-made, and generally boring. Not at the The Manor. This place is a total oasis of fresh, delicious, homemade food, in a convivial atmosphere filled with regulars.
The menu consists of mostly standards -- omelets, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers -- but there are enough specials to keep things interesting, including an array of entree salads rare in these parts. More importantly, everything is made from scratch, so an ordinary menu item tastes just extraordinarily good.
Watch the cooks scramble your eggs, or form your burger patty....and whatever you do, make sure you order fries. You'll get to watch the cook take a big potato, put it in the slicer contraption bolted to the wall, pull the lever down, and then you'll get to see all the new little French fries fall down and get scooped into the fryer.
The only thing I would change would be the counter -- there is a short counter with about 4-5 stools, but they're about the same height as chairs. A real, taller and longer diner counter with higher stools would be awesome. And you can tell all the old dudes who come in here are longing for more counter space.
