Lee's Creek Grocery

Not the easiest to find but worth the effort! Google Maps will help you find the road, but coordinates are incorrect so watch the addresses on the mailboxes. Your search will be rewarded with a great home-cooked meal. As the name implies, when you walk in you'll see a country grocery store, but don't let that throw you off - the dining area is to the right.  Dining area has a relaxed "lake" feel with map of the lake on the wall and fishing theme.  Meal starts with jalapeno cornbread "and/or" hot rolls - get both. Try the grilled pork chops with purple-hulled peas and sweet potato casserole. The chops and peas were simply prepared but well seasoned.  The casserole was light, fluffy and sweet enough to serve as dessert.  They also have a good selection of homemade pies, but order when you first sit down, as these can sell out quickly.  I took my slice of coconut cream pie for the road.  Close to Martin Creek State Park campground - great choice if you want a home-cooked meal and don't want to get dressed up.

Oh my gosh, y'all. Lee's Creek is the REAL deal. Down home East Texas cooking done like your fat grandma would do. The catfish was perfection, as was the fried shrimp, and the buttermilk pie was some of the best I've ever put in my mouth.

It's BYOB and super casual. Not easy to find (don't trust Google maps), but totally worth the hunt.

Next time I'm up in that neck of the woods, I WILL be going back.

Similar to the other review, if you are near Lake Cherokee or Tatum, this place would be worth a trip. I would not say Longview because it's not worth the 20-30 minute drive or passing up better restaurants to get here. I had the burger and would like to go back to check out the catfish, CFS, etc. The burger is serviceable. Not the best burger I've ever had but not bad by any means. Service is adequate for a grocery store. It's inexpensive and decent food but not worth any extra effort to get here.
