Would of given 5 stars, but the salad bar needs much improvement. And the night we were there, someone ordered bread pudding and they did not have the rum sauce to go over it. For a place that is only open three days a week, seems that they would be on top of things. And offer a much better salad bar.
Review Source:They are not open every night of the week so call ahead and check the menu. Â Steaks are available certain nights only...No matter what it takes, don't miss having a steak at this quaint, crowded little restaurant...it's worth the wait. Â The food is plentiful and you'll have left overs..don't forget to save room for desert.
Review Source:The genuine feel of the ambiance, the steak's quality, seasoning and overall flavor (mesquite smoked with a crispy caramelized outer crust), the twice-baked potatoes and rolls were absolute perfection, the cobblers were also amazing... It definitely delivered! Â OK, so the salad sucked dong, oh well..
Is it the best steak in Texas? Â Nope. Â Still J. Allen's in Abilene or Eddie V's in Austin, until I say otherwise. Â It is a MUST dine at place, though. Â For your average Billy Bob, that is the pinnacle of dining! Â It wont get a Zagat Rating or a Michelin Star, but there's no way that people wont like the place. Â I don't usually fall for "big Texas fare", but the steak was actually 24 oz. + and I ordered a 14 oz.. hey, it never hurts. Â I have 12 oz left over, and plan to have an incredible omelet in a few hours.
The place next door has an old soda fountain with BAD ASS root beer, to boot..
Great experience! Â Genuine Americana!
