Ask Google Maps for a route from Austin, Texas to Lubbock. Â If you leave in the morning and you want to stop for lunch, there are two options: Abilene or San Angelo. Â We took San Angelo, and I would do it again. Â On the return trip we took Abilene. Â No doubt there are good lunch places in Abilene, but we had a late breakfast and no one was hungry, so we opted to drive for another hour, which put us in Santa Anna.
As far as I can tell, Santa Anna has no tourism to speak of. Â Downtown is sad and run-down. Â As for the restaurant, I don't want to kick anyone when they're down. Â I cannot imagine how hard it is to run a restaurant in a tiny, impoverished town. Â I wish the owner the best of luck. Â I hope she is able to straighten things out with her suppliers and publish a new menu that matches what the kitchen can make.
