This is a great small pub! I was staying at the Red Lion Inn and went down here to hear some Irish music and have a few drinks with my fiancée. We loved that there were trivial pursuit decks just lying around for people to quiz each other with and the beer selection was very nice. The music was great and not too loud, which made it easy for us to talk to each other as well as enjoy the band. We also had some of their bread pudding and that was very, very yummy indeed. This is a really nice find in Stockbridge and I recommend it to anyone who's staying at the Inn or in town for a visit.

Came on a Saturday night w the posse around 9pm.  It was a light snow outside and parking wasn't too bad, a few spaces out on the street in front.  There was a band playing that evening, so mucho loud and MUCHO packed.  There was a single table right when you walk in around the corner by the bar so we took it.

Waitress was quick to get our drink order and of course the guys wanted to try some food--new england clam chowder and the charcuterie board.  Beers and ciders came fast and food was a prompt 10 mins or so after.  Many beers on tap but smaller batch brews.  The cider was awesome and I love me some spiked juicey juice.  Food was pretty decent, nothing superb tho-basic hot soup and array of meats and crunchy breads.

We said we would stay about 45 mins and it was kinda boring with the old-school band so we wanted to get going, except the waitress was no where to be found.  We waited nearly half an hour to try and find her and that was damn annoying enough.  I get that there is a band and maybe they were short staffed but it was towards the end of the night and most people weren't eating at that point.  Had to take a star b/c i have the worst patience and 20-30 mins of waiting, NO Bueno.

Loved the old decor though and the crowd was just as worn.  Not a bad spot tho, and would probably come earlier next time so we would't have to listen to the honky-tonk.

Pub in the basement of the Red lion inn. Live music with delicious food. Small menu and good service.

Lions behind the bar, lions on the walls, lions in iron, lions underground.

Maaaaad cozy. Fireplace, carpets, you know this.

    Candle light make it right.

Trivial pursuit in spades - dumb games - make you scratch your head, the orange deck is 'music only.'

I don't know about food, but this place, among others in these parts, boasts a generous pour on the red so I like that.

So, if I were rating the menu variety and quality of food, I would give Lion's Den 2 stars, but we LOVED their trivia night.  I would give Trivia Night 5 stars. I highly recommend trivia night, which they hold every 3rd Thursday of the month. The questions had variety and were fun--some were difficult, while others were light-hearted.  They give away prizes (I think it's money off of your tab; we didn't win, so I'm not sure).
The two of us ordered food to share--
chicken pot pie --dry, no seasoning, and a weird puff pastry topper
french onion soup--very watery, the broth was bland, not very hearty
cup of chili--ok, standard fare, have had better from Wendy's Drive Thru
The waitress was attentive and the ambiance was great.

We had a lovely lunch in the Lion's Den on Saturday.  The place was busy and bustling.

I had the Turkey sandwich, Asaparagus soup and a salad.  OUTSTANDING.

The ambiance was particularly interesting.  How often do you eat in a place that is 300+ years old?  In the US?  Neat to sit and imagine how many generations of folks have passed through that spot for room and/or board.

    Quintessential New England small town.

Great music 365 days a year with no cover charge.  Friendly staff and great wine list.  The beer is top notch and includes local and rotating specials.  Free strong WiFi too!

My husband and I are here at least twice a week.

It is not a restaurant, yet it has a bar menu with great offerings as well.  The New England Clam Chowder makes my mouth water just by typing it here.  The daily specials (ex:  full turkey dinner on Sundays and spaghetti and meatballs on Monday) are so terrific and can't be beat for under $10.  There is also the necessary salads and burgers and nachos and wings.  All from a place that is a drinks and music club, not a restaurant.  You also have the option of eating at the full restaurant upstairs before the music starts down in the Lion's Den.

    Don't miss it!!

The place itself really feels like a den.  Located beneath the Red Lion Inn, it's dark with old-school tables and boothes.  The service was great--we didn't have to wait at all to order drinks or food.

The menu however was really limited (hence the 3 stars).  I could only find one thing I wanted to order--the blackened salmon and avocado wrap-but that one thing was quite tasty.

Parking can be nasty, so be ready to wait for a spot.

I have been here many times and always enjoy myself. As the other reviewer said the menu is small and pretty simple, although I don't agree that this is a reason to only give it 3 stars. There is something for everyone and they always have a nightly special.

We always find ourselves here after dinner for the entertainment, some drinks and snacks. Both the wings and nachos are great foods to share. The french onion soup is excellent here!

Its a great space in the basement of the Red Lion Inn and you can't go wrong with nightly entertainment and no cover charge. My favorite groups to see here are Jeff King and The Reformers.

The Red Lion Inn's "Lion's Den" only gets three stars because of its paltry menu. I mean seriously, they could try just a bit harder to add some more variety.

With that said, the atmosphere was unique and I loved the dark, hidden ambience. The waitress was quick and we didn't have to wait for pretty much anything. They also have Berkshire Brewing's Pale Ale on tap, which would have made everything alright had the place been on fire.

If you're hanging around Lenox, Mass for whatever reason, it's worth the stop. Don't be expecting much of a menu, but if you're up for burgers and beer, you're in good shape.

Be prepared to circle the block like a shark, though. The Lion's Den is pretty much at the epicenter of downtown activity (being inside the Red Lion and all) so parking is hard to come by, at least on weekends.
