I happened to notice this place on the Eastbound service road of I-20 the other day while travelling to New Mexico on business. I made a note to myself to stop here on my way back to Dallas the following day for lunch. I pulled into the parking lot the next day and was pleased to smell Mesquite wood smoke coming from the smoker pit to the left of the building.
I was startled when the front door did not open until I read the business hours of this place. They open for Lunch business from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., then open up again at 5:00 P.M. for the dinner crowd. "Just my luck", I thought as I realized it was after 3:00 p.m. already ! Then I noticed a young man emerge from the back door of the building and proceed to feed the smoker with Mesquite logs.
I walked over and talked to him for a few minutes and then asked if it might be possible to buy a rack of ribs to go even though they were closed ? He had me follow him inside to ask his boss who very politely agreed to grant my request. They pulled out a hot rack and sliced it for me putting it in a to go box for me. I then sat in my car and ate about five of those deliciously smoked, tender ribs ! Great Mesquite flavor from their indirect heat smoker. I liked the sauce pretty well, about medium thickness leaning to the sweet side just as I prefer.
The dining area inside looked clean and with typically " Texas BBQ Joint " decor choices. The kitchen featured all kinds of delicious aromas, so I can only guess about the side orders, but bet they are good also. I will stop in here again if travelling this way, and try to make it in time to try the rest of the menu. Reasonable prices for pretty good BBQ ribs ! I enjoyed the place, and everyone was very friendly.
