  When I ate here, I ordered steak which came, predictably, with broccoli and a baked potato. The steak was cooked  medium well as I asked and was tasty but the potato looked like it sat around for a day or two and was then microwaved and the vegggies were limp and overcooked. Disappointing...I mean how can you mess up a baked potato unless you just dont give a darn! I am not impressed by retro decor in TorC because EVERYTHING here is like it was in the 1950s including the attitudes of so many residents!!!!!!!!!!

  Food was excellent after traveling and eating a lot of mexican and hot dogs. They have early bird specials everyday from 5 to 7.
  Service was a three because one meal was delayed coming to the table and the bill had a mistake on it. However the mistake was quickly fixed.
  Nicer atmosphere. Was casual but you could wear something nice if you wanted!

  I expected less and got so much more!  Love the dated look of the decor because it made me feel like a trip down memory lane.  Who would have thought that one of the best lobster tails I've ever had was going to be here?  The service is attentive, if not overly so, but the waiter was extremely pleasant.  Wine list is good.  We did not opt for appetizers, but the choices didn't grab me as many are fried.  I ordered a petite sirloin and one lobster tail, and both were grilled to perfection.  My husband ordered the NY Strip and said the same.  The prices are spendy, but for steaks as good as the top shelf big city places you don't have to ala carte salads and sides.  The rice pilaf had fresh crunchy veggies in it which made it a hit with me.  Vegetables...well....steamed broccoli and friends were tasty.  Definitely save room for their house special Mud Pie.....and if you're sharing....tell the server and they'll split it in the kitchen so you don't have to fight over it at the table!
  
  Definitely a huge surprise and a big win for dining in T or C!

  If we could give half stars, I'd probably give this place a 2.5...
  
  The restaurant itself has a cool design and atomosphere.  Tt is actually made up of brick archways-- hence, Los Arcos-- and it is dimly lit with Southwestern and Native American motif paintings.  I'm not sure how old it is, but it definitely has a retro feel to it, right down to the "Steak, Lobster, Cocktails" sign outside.  The service was excellent.  Our waiter was an older man who definitely went above and beyond to serve us, and was very earnest in his communication.
  
  But the food was merely lackluster.  We started off with calamari-- probably not the best choice in the middle of NM-- which was strangely soft and came in all slightly curled pieces-- absolutely no rings or tentacles. It was sketchy at best.  
  
  We ordered our steak medium rare and medium rare it came-- it was pink all throughout, but the whole thing was soft and chewy.  No crisp, seared skin or anything of the sort.  C suspected it was broiled instead of grilled.  (I pity the Texan who reviewed this place and said it was the best steak they'd ever had--??) The veggies were nothing to write home about, though they did appear to be fresh rather than frozen (thank God).  The rice pilaf was bland and cold.
  
  All in all, I think what this place needs is a major menu overhaul.  Get some different sides on there!  Choosing between "baked potato, rice, or rice pilaf" and getting "mixed veggies" makes me feel like I'm at some Jersey diner or Charlie Brown's... with the prices they are charging, they should be offering some much more creative, local, and seasonal choices!  The same thing with the appetizers-- they are the stuff of TGIFriday's menu and almost all fried!
  
  This place is a bit of a time warp, from the menu to the elevator muzak.  Unfortunately, it seems like the most high end restaurant in Truth or Consequences, so I'm sure they'll keep doing business, as long as unsuspecting tourists like us come through town for the hot springs...

  If you compare this place only to the rest of the dining options in TorC then it's the best thing going.  Service is excellent.  However, if I'm going to pay $30+ for a steak dinner I expect side dishes to be fresh made and not from a microwave bag.

  I thoroughly enjoy Los Arcos.  I find the service very good and the food quite good.  I like the prime rib, the chicken, and the onion soup if they happen to be serving it that night.  It tasted like the broth was made of leftover au jus and was to die for.  Good roles, skip the bearnaise sauce.  It is a throw back and reminds me of eating out with my parents in the 60's, but it's clean and in good repair, so what's not to like? I've eaten here 3 times and plan to return.  As others noted, it is pricey for the area, but if you can afford it, it's worth the money.

  This place was highly recommended to us. We did try to go on a Saturday about 5:30p and there was already a 30-40 minute wait for 2, but we sat in the bar area and we did enjoy ourselves. The bar did get pretty packed very quickly.
  
  Average rating for service and atmosphere, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the BBQ ribs. Delicious!...but we did pay for it...pretty spendy place.

  I am also from Texas and contrary to previous reviews, I didn't find it to be the best steak I ever had. That said, I didn't shell out $40 for the filet, either. The service was annoyingly over attentive, food was overpriced and not hot when it hit the table. (The rolls were to die for however.) Apple won ton dessert was clearly not homemade. This was our first visit in the 5 years we've been to T or C and it didn't make the repeat list.

  LOVE this place - hipsters would line up along a velvet rope if Los Arcos was in L.A. It is a time-warp 1960's era steakhouse that serves some pretty good food. Prices are on the high side, especially for southern New Mexico. I've had a couple of steaks here but my fav is the 'Managers Special Kabob' ($32?) that is a delish skewer of filet, lobster, and shrimp served with veggies and a potato.
  
  The excellent bar has a limited menu - try the fried zucchini - and some strong-ass cocktails (and I was there at the bar on the night Bin Laden got a bullet - and hear the various conspiracies theories from the patrons. Great night). A Michelin *** restaurant - if they had a guide for Truth or Consequences - worth a detour.

  We stopped in on a Saturday night for a drink and some desert in the bar. SERVICE was good. Probably one of the best strawberry daiquiri's I've ever had - no ice chips. My husband had a blended margarita and said it was good. I wouldn't say they were strong. From the DESERT MENU we ordered the CHOCOLATE BROWNIE SUNDAE. The brownie was dry even though it was buried in ice cream and whipping cream. Came in a very large dish enough for two to share. The waitress was very accommodating even though she was flirting with a couple of guys in the corner and chatty and giggly with another off duty waitress. It was a bit juvenile and distracting. Only TV screens showing sports on a Saturday night. Kind of boring, really.

  This place is the best.  I don't even look at the menu anymore I just ask for the chef to make me his best steak and it always comes out perfect.  
  
  I also love to go into the bar and get the prime rib sandwich.  They make good strong drinks and the food is fantastic.  
  
  I have always found the service to be good and attentive.
  
  I cant wait to go back.

  I am SO impressed with this place. I am a Texan who has been to my fair share of steakhouses and Los Arcos was THE BEST steak I have ever had. My husband and i ordered the sirloin and were thrilled with our dinner. Our waitress Carly was the incredibly friendly and helpful and even the house salad was delicious. I never expected to have the best steak of my life in a town like Truth or Consequences, but it truly was the best.
  
  The atmosphere is romantic in my opinion, we dined by candlelight and because it is christmastime, the restaurant was tastefully decked out with a christmas tree and christmas lights.
  
  After dining at BellaLuca the day before and being extremely disappointed, I was so pleased with the service, ambiance and food at Los Arcos and wish we had gone two nights in a row! I will definitely be back here next time we come to T or C.

  Oh, man.  Los Arcos Steak & Lobster (the cocktail lounge and package store is next door) was an unexpected treat.  I don't know what happened with the other reviewer, but the service here was excellent to the point of almost being over-attentive, and the atmosphere was very local and warm.
  
  Being from Texas and eating a lot of steak while growing up at home, I rarely order steaks at restaurants.  If I do, it's usually overseas at the best steakhouses in Chile, Italy, or even Lithuania.  So when I bit into the medium-rare charbroiled Filet Monte Vista, the way it just melted in my mouth made me exclaim that I've never had a steak this good in the US, period.  It had to be local beef.  It was equivalent to the best I've had overseas.
  
  Topped with a green chile (of course) and Mornay sauce, the filet's flavor was not at all overpowered.  The predominant flavor was sweet, succulent beef that was brought out with an amazing charbroiled smokiness.  The amount of cheesy Mornay sauce and spicy local green chiles was just perfect, without smothering or drowning out the filet at all.  It was the perfect thickness, temperature, and again, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  
  The Filet Monte Vista ($39.98) came with a choice of soup or salad (we opted for the green chile corn chowder, also absolutely delicious) and starch (baked potato).  We also had two perfectly strong margaritas on the rocks with salt and shared an appetizer of fried jalapenos -- raw (not pickled), sliced, battered, and fried like fried okra.  Sometimes jalapenos taste more like bell peppers to me, especially when I get them in South Florida...but these were definitely hot and super spicy.  The ranch dipping sauce helped cool down our taste buds...a little bit.  I was able to eat about a third of the large portion.  
  
  Yes, Los Arcos is the most expensive restaurant in TorC, but it's worth it.  Besides, there was plenty of food in their portions to share an entree and an appetizer and still be (overly) full.  Everyone else was taking doggie bags home.  
  
  In lieu of dessert, the boy got the "Mexican coffee", spiked with tequila.  I tasted it, and we both agreed that it was rich and yummy.  They make remarkably good coffee.
  
  Los Arcos has been around for over 30 years, and locals recommended this place and an Italian (yawn) restaurant in town.  How does it compare to US steakhouses like Ruth's Chris or Smith & Wollensky's?  The boyfriend said Los Arcos was better.  So there you have it, as good as the steaks I've had at the best places overseas, and better than the steaks he's had at upscale US steakhouses.  Plus, it's casual, and you can wear whatever you want -- after all, it's Truth or Consequences.

  While visiting T or C, NM doing some relaxing at the Sierra Grande resort we decided to eat at the old Los Arcos Steakhouse. Los Arcos is owned by the employees and I loved the idea of supporting my Waiters business.
  Unfortunately, the service was lousy and the food was marginal at best.
  The waiter brought out a warm bottle of Gruet Blanc de Noir sparkling wine. That is a cardinal sin in New Mexico to serve the "Krug of the Southwest" lukewarm like it is tap water. The other wine selections were quite mediocre  and non-conditioned as well. I ordered Prime Rib because these folks don't have the sense God gave a goat to put a Ribeye on the menu.
  Homeboy forgot my afterthought salad, and screwed up the entire order for the table. When we brought it to his attention he just shrugged. I mean who are we going to complain to...the owner?
  My prime rib was a flavorless pile of fat and I have had better at a high school cafeteria. At 300 bones for a very average dinner, I would never return to Los Arcos "Steakhouse."
