We were here on a business trip and did not really know where to eat at. There was not really anywhere close that we knew of to get good cajun so we went for Mexican food. The food was surprisingly tasty. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 is because the "free" ice cream they gave us at the end was terrible! I had to throw mine away and rinse my mouth out! Other than that, everything else was good.
Review Source:This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in this area. Whether it is the one in Leesville or DeRidder, the food, service and atmosphere is great. Have eaten here for the past couple years many times and have never been disappointed. A great place to bring the family for a meal that will not disappoint you. The fresh hand made flour tortillas are the best.
Review Source:This place is the very best mexican I've ever eaten. The portions and taste are awesome. I travel all over the south in my work and eat at many mexican places and they can't compare to this place. Been many places in texas at Mexican restaurants and they were all horrible compared to this place. One thing about this place is everything is fresh and not frozen.
Review Source:I don't know why everybody in this area goes bonkers for this place. If you've ever had Mexican food at any place in Texas, this place will disappoint you. This is my second review, thought they deserved a second chance... ordered bean & cheese tacos and got bland bean tacos (HARD tacos) with cheese sprinkled on the shells! Seriously? I'll never be back. Also ordered something simple like taco salad -- not only was the chicken severely overcooked, it was as dry as the desert sun and was a chore to swallow, not to mention the entire dish was smothered in sour cream. I will never go back and I advise everyone to drive ANYWHERE in Texas, I promise wherever you go it will be better than Los Mayas.
Review Source:Say it with me now, *white cheese dip*! YAY! This is by far the best Mexican food in DeRidder or Leesville. The only draw back is no margaritas, but in exchange you get great service, amazing chips and salsa, cheap food and a family firendly atmosphere. I have mixed feelings about this being so far from my home -- good for my waistline, bad for my Mexican food cravings.
Review Source:This is good food...and plenty of it! We eat here regularly because the food is good, the service is friendly, and the serving sizes are generous -- usually one entree will feed 2 or 3 people.
This building was a longtime "working class" BBQ joint. Los Maya is a "working class" Mexican joint.
Possibly because Los Mayas does not serve alcoholic beverages, I feel like it's a great family restaurant.
For what its worth, Mexicans eat at this restaurant!
An aside: the only time I've seen non-Spanish TV programming at the restaurant was when they showed an LSU football game!
