Trendy but comfortable. A great place to go that's downtown and not a bar for just wine or beer. Nice music playing, nice employees. They say bring in whatever food you like to eat, haven't tried that. This place is a nice place to start your evening or end it.

My friend said this place was great! Well I was excited to check this place out and it was NOT good.

I introduced myself to the owner and she was looked at me like I was bothering her. Trust me I get it when it is busy (was not) and you got a lot of things going on being an owner. She did not smile and started talking to her service guy. He was nice and seemed like he was trying to make up for lack of a presence. They had a good wine list.

Ordered some wine and was ignored and told my friend, "You like this place?" Took a long time to get service and we paid and left. I would rather give my money to other lovely wine bars in town who actually smile when you walk in and give you great service!!

Cool, modern space with a great selection of wines featuring many local central coast wineries not found elsewhere in SLO. Very knowledgeable staff and solid music combine to make this one of the better wine bars I have been to.

My friends and I walked pass this place in the daytime on Sat 1/19/2013 and wanted to check it out at night.  So we came here to kill time before our dinner reservation at 9pm.  The decor was classy.  Place was not packed when we got here.  There was 7 of us and we got a high table along the wall.  We ordered appetizers, beer, and wine flights.  Everything was really good.  We ordered the fresh bread and dipping oil-standard, artisan cheese and meats place-good, organic cream cheese square-really good, and bacon s'more-good.  We especially liked the cream cheese square.  I enjoyed my white wine flight and later got the luna di luna (which was a moscato).  The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.  All in all, I would recommend this place and would go again.  We had a good time.

Love this place! They have done a great job putting together a classy upscale setting for ADULTS to enjoy the great wine, beer, and appetizer menu. Major bonus points for allowing outside food and its a much needed addition to the SLO downtown scene.

Great addition to downtown SLO.   Try the cheese platter.

Luis has a great vibe; casual yet chic.  They have an eclectic assortment of wines and craft beer to please any palate.  Would love to see more beers on tap and a few more food choices on the menu.  This place is prefect for tapas.  The bacon s'mores is a delightful treat not to be missed!!

A nice place to get some quality wine or even some high end beers. I loved the decor and music, it has an upscale yet casual vibe without being snooty.

Really cool wine bar in downtown SLO!!

Nice atmosphere and a relaxing place to hang out.  If you are looking for something different from all the other college/local dives for a date, somewhere to take the parents, a little sophistication, etc. Luis a great choice!

Had a fun time here on Saturday night chatting with the staff and owner.  They were great to talk to and had some good recommendations on wine too.

Being located on the Central Coast I would have liked to have had a few more Central Coast wines by the glass but their wine list (about 1/2 by the glass and 1/2 only by the bottle) was pretty extensive for a new / small(ish) place and they did have some interesting local selections and a good beer selection too.

Not much in the way of food, simple cheese / meat but enough to hold you over and to go with your wine, very nice, but closed on Tuesdays (?).

I gave this place a three solely due to the service.  The atmosphere is great, the wine snacks are great, and the wine list is good (although could be slightly better),  however, the lady that was running the tables that night was slightly awkward and made us feel ignored.  I'm sure with another server, this place would have been amazing!

Try the s'mores on the menu!

This place is perfect. We were looking for a classy late night hang and after walking in (and promptly out) of several loud crowded college bars, we found this place on Yelp and headed over. It was new and clean, spacious, had plenty of seating, great hip background music you could still talk over easily, cool lighting... and of course, great wine & appetizers! We did a 3 white wine tasting which featured whites from France, New Zealand, and California, which was a cool comparison. We also ordered two of the appetizers and they were delicious and quite large (enough for 4 people or so to have shared). The bartender was also very friendly and professional.

We hope to be back many times.

This place is awesome.  Great selection of wines and a super nice staff..  the room is bright and airy, especially with the giant windows wide open.  It kinda feels like you're outside.  I haven't had the food, but it sure looks delicious. Plus, they play great music.   I could camp out here all day.

This place is great. The wine and menu selections are very thoughtful and delicious.  The staff is knowledgable and friendly.  It also is quite relaxed and cozy inside while still feeling sophisticated.  A terrific "grown up" style bar downtown.

Everything that I've been wanting... a good menu that doesn't get boring and nice atmosphere.  It has achieved that excellent comfort spot, that isn't pretentious, yet is more than a bar.  The location is great--downtown, but away from downtown college student drunkenness.

They know how to store, handle, and pour wine.  And their diverse menu shows how much they care about it.

I'm excited to go here a lot and introduce everyone I know to it.

We enjoyed our evening out as Luis Wine Bar.  The staff is very knowledgeable, the atmosphere is relaxing and personable.  The cheese plates were excellent,   the beer selection was full, and the wine list  had a lot to offer.  This is going to a regular spot for us.  Thank you for a wonderful evening!!

As a SLOcal it is nice to finally have an actual wine bar that is a true bar! Great ambiance with dark wood and cozy chairs. The light fixtures and black/white photos add a great look to the place. And on the warm afternoons, the entire front wall of windows opens up. There is a great variety of wines of all varietals and a great high end beer selection to choose from as well. Sampled the cheese/bread plate, as well as the Bacon S'more...um yeah...delish!! FACT!

This is a must stop if you live in SLO or visit. Great location on Higuerra Street too!

San Luis Obispo isn't really complete without Luis (literally and figuratively)! This is a great bar that just opened up in the heart of SLO that serves a lot of delicious Central Coast wines (they also serve beer if that's more your thing!) As this was a new place, I felt it was my duty to try several of the whites and reds, and I thought they were very well selected so I really don't think you can go wrong... but if you need help, just ask the owner or any of the friendly bar staff as they were happy to help me with recommendations. Also, you really must try to the bacon s'more. Seriously. It's amazing.

The owner, Vanessa, was welcoming people in on her first official day and there were a lot of people like me who stopped by and were duly impressed by what she has put together here. She has managed to make this a really great place to hang out. The seating, the ambiance... just everything actually... makes it feel so comfortable and I got happily sucked into staying for a while. I can definitely see myself back here on a warm day enjoying a glass while I sit in front of the open big windows, or equally likely to show up there at night to catch up with some friends. This is definitely going to be a regular stop for me on my visits to SLO now!

We had the privilege of being Luis' very first customers at the "official" soft opening this past Saturday night.  We were there from 5pm-midnight and had a great time sampling their drinks and desserts and chatting with the owner, Vanessa.  Yes, we were there for 7 hours!

They have over 40 different wines from all over the central coast ,4 beers on tap and a number of other bottled beers (even a few specialty sodas for when you want to hydrate).  My fiance loved the Sangiovese (I forgot where it was from) and we heard it getting compliments from others as well.  We finished with the Bacon S'more dessert and I may have allegedly ate more than my fair share (Here's a tip if you are planning on sharing it - Don't!).

We really liked the setup of the bar.  It was open enough that we thought it would be good for groups.  And it also has smaller tables for a more intimate feel.  The high backed booth seats all have a cool foot rest too (one of the many unique qualities we saw and appreciated).  When you go, grab a seat at the bar and say hi to Vanessa for me.  Or take the corner bench seat in the back so you can get the best view of the whole bar.

I can't wait to check it out in the spring/summer (or when the weather is a tad bit warmer) so the windows can be fully opened to the street.  Now I just need to figure out how to move from SF to SLO so we can go there more often!

    Best Wine Bar Ever!
