Lumberyard Cafe

Yesterday, Sun, we were headed to drop our daughter off at camp, and were looking for something good to eat.  We found Lumber Yard Cafe on our phones, and thought we'd give it a shot, but figured it would be a run of the mill southern comfort food place.  First when we were walking up I noticed that the business hours on Sun were only until 2pm, it was 1:55, so I figured that we'd be turned away.  To my surprise they graciously seated us.  Second, I looked at the menu, and was surprised again to not see a menu full of southern comfort foods, and when I talked to the owner she said that her and her husband are foodies.
I ate a spinach and shrimp salad with a bacon vinaigrette, and added grilled asparagus.
My wife had a plate of grilled chicken a 2 veggies, one of them also being the grilled asparagus.
My daughter got the orange chicken bowl with grilled chicken, most places it would be fried.

So outside of the staff being very friendly, the food was delicious, and not overly priced.  Although I'm not sure when I'll be out that way again, but when I do we will be stopping.

For a small town eatery, this place is about as good as it gets. I have eaten there several times when I was in town, and every time the food has been excellent. The presentation and quality of the food reminds me of Chili's or Appleby's. I know they are not 5 star restaurants, but for a small town, this is pretty high end. You will not be disappointed.
