I came here two Saturdays ago with a group of four other people. We sat at a booth on the main floor area. They had someone playing live music toward the front of the restaurant. However, most people had their eyes glued to the TVs - Valverde had just blown a save (shocking) and it was a tie game in the 9th.

We sat there for about 10 minutes. We weren't even addressed by a waitress. There were other waitresses working on other tables right next to us. I don't know if they thought the other person had us or what, but no one ever came over.

We left before the game was even over. We'd planned on ordering drinks and food (one of our friends had just gotten off his shift and was starving, and the rest of us were going to get some appetizers) but left hungry and thirsty.

I'd like to try and give this place a rating, but this is twice now that I've been completely unable to because I have absolutely nothing to go on...except the service, which is nonexistent.

I can't say anything negative about the place.  Owners are very nice and any issue that I have had was taken care of immediately upon their knowledge.  They have amazing nacho's with fresh-homemade patato chips with fresh melted cheese not canned crap either.

Soups are good and the atmosphere is amazing.

Ill continue to frequent this place as long as it's around.

Food is average but the bar has a great selection.

The atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for on a rainy evening after a looong day of work.  My waitress was great and I was very happy with the beer selection. When trying to decide between the blackened salmon ceasar and the shepherd's pie, my waitress told me to go with the salad. She said they had lots of complaints on the shepherd's pie...I should have listened to her! But I really wanted shepherd's pie, so I ordered it any way. The first time it came out, the center was ice cold. The second time it came out, it was so hot I had to wait 10 minutes to take a bite. It wasn't worth wait. The sauce was bland, the lamb chest, and the potatoes watery. I'll go again for beer & atmosphere, but NOT for the food!

What a beautiful atmosphere and re-model job. There was quite a crowd for a one o'clock Wednesday lunch downtown. They were busy and it took a while for a waitress to notice us, but when she did she was very friendly and apolegetic. The music was too loud for lunch chit chat with my mom and our friend. We had to holler a bit to hear each other. I understand loud music for the night time bar crowd, but appreciate a quieter level for lunch. I hope they will adjust that.

I ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage and a cup of the Potato-Leek Soup. The soup arrived in a coffee mug and was very hot and tasty. The broth was easy to sip from the mug after the potato slices were gone. It warmed me up.

My meal arrived with thinly sliced corned beef on top of cabbage pieces. It came with sliced carrots on the side... MASSIVE sliced carrots on the side. I don't know if they always serve them like these... but these carrots were BIG. They were sweet and cooked just right. I enjoyed the carrots most of all actually. The Corned Beef and Cabbage was kind of bland. Not much seasoning at all. I'm probably just partial to my own way of cooking it. Low and slow in the oven with plenty of spices.

If I decide to head back for more soup and carrots someday, I'll probably try something else to go with them.

Keep in mind that we were there on their grand opening night (which we didn't realize until we arrived), so they were swamped.  However, they did have a soft opening earlier that week so we hoped they had worked things out and decided to sit at the bar and give it a try.

My drink was good and strong, which we soon realized was probably a result of our bartender being completely drunk.  I won't get into all the details, but he was relieved from his shift (and maybe his job) in front of us that evening.  The bar is large and a really nice place to sit.

We ordered food at the bar rather than wait for a table.  We ordered the irish nachos, which are potato chips covered in white cheese sauce, bacon bits, and scallions.  They were awesome!!!  So delicious that I almost forgot that it took over an hour to get them.  I had ordered the wedge salad, which was pretty good.  I think the bleu cheese dressing was from a bottle, but it wasn't too bad.

My husband ordered the shepherd's pie.  I can't even really describe what he was served.  It was in a dish and topped with mashed potatoes, but the meat/vegetables underneath were vile. Rather than the rich gravy you expect in shepherd's pie, it was in some kind of gelatinous goo. Yuck.  We let the bartender know it was inedible, and he got someone (the owner?) who came and took it away without saying anything. She came back, apologized, and offered to get him something else.  We asked what would be ready quickly (we had already been there 2+ hours at this point) and she suggested the pesto burger.  It was overcooked and the cheese slice on top wasn't melted, which was a little weird.  The fries that came with it were fantastic, though!

Clearly, they worked very hard on the decor and other details, but the kitchen needs some work.  I like seeing new businesses in downtown PH and would always prefer a great local restaurant over the chains on the north end.  I hope they are able to get it together.  We are going to give it a few weeks/months and try again - I'll update with another review when we do.

I ate there on the first week of opening so I am trying to be open minded, however the waitress we had up by the bar area was absolutely horrible, she didn't know products carried (i.e. beer on tap) and never asked if we needed additional beverages. In fact we had to go to the bartender directly for a second beer. As for the food, we had the reuben. A traditional Irish food, however was very disappointed in the portion size. Couldn't taste the sauerkraut let alone the corned beef. I'm willing to try things out a second time to see if any improvements have been made.

Good atmosphere, food was ok, but the traditional Irsih fare was not great.  You can tell the spent more time working on the decor than the menu.  If they want to be an Irish Tavern they need to really evaluate the quality of the Irish food and improve upon it.  This would be a great Tavern if they eliminated the Irish portion because it is just not working.
