Easily accessible off the freeway if you're traveling. The red sauce is very tasty. The crust is perfect. We also had a good white sauce on their specialty pizza with very fresh veggies, but I was partial to the red sauce, I think. Â We didn't go into the attached bar, but it was dark and chic - seemed nice. A very good meal on a cross country trip! The only complaint is I didn't get one of the things I ordered, but no big.
Review Source:Great sports bar with pizza, burgers and calzones. Many beers on tap with a full bar.
The pizza I had was very good, veggie with delicious crust. Much better than the national chain stores. Â Just keep in mind on your first visit this place is hidden around the back side of a liquor store.
Called in an order. Ordered half cheese, half pepperoni. On my way to pick it up, they called me to say they had made a full pepperoni & said they'd give me 10% off. I said it was ok. I pay for the pizza & when I get home I notice the pizza is burnt. I usually like my pizza a little crispy, but this one had black on the crust. So I drive back & tell them I don't want it. So the cashier puts my money on the counter. I told her I still want a pizza because im hungry. So she says I owe her an additional $2 from my original order because it would be without discount. I asked for the manager & he still insisted I pay more from what I originally payed. So after all that I had to cough up more cash. I just took my money & went elsewhere. Worst customer service! To top it off, the cook told the cashier to "make a note" on my number, so next time I call they wont take orders from me. All this was said in front of my face.
Review Source:Going through town, stop for dinner..........
There is a big sign in front that says "Sports Bar" so I am OK with sports on TV, beer, and pizza.
My stop here was just plain weird.
As I am walking in on Thursday night, college football should be on the TV's. Instead reality TV on TNT is on and with a blasting volumn.
OK, I go into the bar area (2 areas -bar and restaurant) and want a beer and pizza. Waitress say that she cannot serve me pizza in the bar, and I can only have some sandwiches.
OK, I will have a beer and meat ball sandwich. She says I need money right now.
OK, I take care of that. Another guy comes in and checks out that no college football is on the TV. He wants to have the channel changed to sports. The TV with no sound goes to sports, and the speakers are blaring reality tv on TNT. He cuts out.
I eat and run. I would like too watch sports, and saw that is not going to happen.
For a "Sports Bar", this is not a good one.
The bartender was friendly, the cashiers not as much. Food takes a LONG time here even when it's not busy, so don't be on a hurry. The Hero Sandwich was good, it reminded me of Round Table Pizza's old Hero Sandwich.
Nice bar, a great place to hang out. Delano needs more places like this.
I've been going to Magoo's about since the Holiday Inn Express next door opened. I come to Delano on business several times a year and am sooo pleased with the HIE and Magoo's - years ago there was only the Comfort Inn and Shiloh Inn. Rocky's Pizza was OK, but now I can just walk next door.
The very first time I ordered to go the girl asked for my phone number and said she would call back with the time and total. After about 30 minutes I finaly called and she said she couldn't call me back because my phone number was long distance (work cell phone).
Really?
No problem with the same number for a while now (which they keep on file??) but they never call back, just give the time/total, and always good pizza. I only get a mini to go (plenty for me), but the place is always clean, service good, and nice beer selection in the case. I've even called ahead on the drive North and gotten one to go (pizza, not beer).
I recommend.
Delano doesn't have much to offer as far as pizza is concerned. We have the regular ol' national chains (Little Caesar's, Pizza Hut, and Domino's) and three little locally owned joints (Tony's Pizza, Rocky's Pizza, and LR's Pizza). The best out of the local joints would be Tony's. I quit going to Rocky's after a roach spotting sometime in high school. I only have LR's when my job orders it, and nearly go into carbohydrate arrest from the pizza's super thicker than necessary crust (plus the cheese makes me choke every time).
THEN THERE'S MAGOO'S!
Sadly, they know my number and know what I want before I order it.
The restaurant: Clean, orderly, sanitary. The tv screen behind the counter and above the beer allows you to see what's going on in t he kitchen. The floors are swept, the tables are clean, the restrooms are in excellent condition.
Customer service: Top notch. I'm not just saying this because my old high school peers run this place. I've yet to have an order come up incorrect, I'm always greeted with a friendly hello, and the employees go out of their way to make sure that the consumer/customer experience is 5 stars.
The Food: OHHHEMMMGEEEE. Tasty, hot, excellent. The potato wedges are to die for. The calzones are delectable and so unbelievably GREAT. ORDER: pepperoni pizza with olives and garlic sauce instead of regular tomato sauce. HEAVEN.
At one point this year I was going to Magoo's every day for lunch: a salad...or some pizza....or a calzone...or....yeah. I had to stop. Not good for the hips.
I LOVE MAGOO'S!
I was in Delano for business and was staying at the Holiday Inn Express right across the parking lot from Magoo's Pizza. Boy am I glad I found this place. The first time I went in I had the chicken combo pizza and it came with a delicious white garlic sauce with chicken, tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives and onions (I ordered mine with no onions). The pizza came out after about 10 minutes because everything is cooked fresh to order and it was delicious. The second time I decided to give the hot wings a try and they too were delicious.
Now let me tell you about the incredible beer selection. On tap they have Haywire, Modelo, Newcastle, Blue Moon (which went excellent with my hot wings), Fat Tire (my pairing for the chicken pizza), Coors Light, Bud Light, Guinness, Budweiser, Michelob Ultra, Dos Equis Lager, and Michelob Amber Bach. Wow is all I can say, and this isn't even getting into the bottled beers which include Chimay, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Firestone, Heineken, Sierra Nevada and so many others.
All I can say is if you're in Delano you owe it to yourself to check this place out. If you're driving on the 99 and you're hungry or thirsty, do yourself a favor and get off the freeway to check out Magoo's.
On top of the food and beer selection the restaurant is open and inviting. They have two big screen TV's and the owner is super friendly and he has a passion for beer. He and I talked about beer for about 5 minutes before I even got to ordering. Hands down, Magoo's has been the best part of my stay in Delano.
