Maple Corner Restaurant

I grew up with this restaurant being our "go to" place for "nice" dinners.  Now that I've left small town Indiana, I've come to realize that, despite my parents' belief, Maple Corner is not a fine dining destination. :)

Food quality is normally okay, sometimes even bordering on great.  They have a tendency to overcook their steaks.  They make a mean Italian beef sandwich.  Between visits over the last two decades, I think our family has eaten the entire menu.  Nothing was particularly bad, but there's very little that I would consider to be outstanding (aside from their bread, which I do crave).

Service has been particular hit or miss.  I was there over the weekend and had fantastic service.  Our last two visits, the service has been horrible!  I know they've made a management change in the last year or so, so perhaps the good service we received will become their new golden standard.

Get your salad, your steak & your potato, but perhaps you shouldn't save room for dessert.  I asked for a dessert menu this last visit and was told they don't have one - though I could have ice cream, Snickers pie or cheesecake.  I assumed the later two probably just came out of the freezer as well and passed.

If you are in the area, and want "finer" dining, it's basically Maple Corner or Beef House.  I think Maple Corner is my favorite of the two, but I think it's because I think it's a better price value.  $22 got me steak, potato & salad, versus I'd pay closer to $30 at the Beef House, but that does include soda.
