My husband had the John Wayne burger and really liked it. Â I had the Feijoada and it was delicious. Â I had a crisp white wine to accompany. Â I plan to drive up there again soon so that I can have the Feijoada again. Â The Brazilian carrot cake looked scrumptious but I was tapped out.
Review Source:I was so delighted when I stumbled upon Maple Falls Cafe. Â It's always a treat to experience exceptional food when you least expect it. Â There are limited food options available in the area and this restaurant is quite the gem.
The Chef has created a menu that speaks to everyone's palate. Â The John Wayne Burger is legendary. Â Serve it up with yucca fries and you have a masterpiece. Â The varied menu offers a vegan entree of Hearts of Palm Moqueca which has quickly become my favorite dish consisting of hearts of palm, bell peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, parsley, coconut milk and dende oil. Â Fresh ingredients and well-balanced dishes are the highlight of the menu. Â The staff is passionate and it shows in every bite.
The Cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating, complete with bar and ample space for the kids to roam all in a cozy atmosphere. Â This is the perfect place to enjoy quality dishes, unwind with a craft beer or a well-picked bottle of wine and connect to the wifi and catch up with the outside world. Â
Maple Falls Cafe is AMAZING!
Absolutely a let down. Â STAY AWAY from this place!! Â
We walked in and 5 diners almost ran us over leaving. Â We did not realize they were leaving in frustration until we sat down and observed their table with water, menus and an aborted dinner. Â We stayed. Â I have been to this location 5 times under 5 different owners. Â I love the outdoor area and wanted to try it.
Well, it was a total disaster. Â No service. Â The service that did appear was confused and unprofessional. Â They were nice and lots of smiles but had no clue that they were in the food service business. Â We could see everybody around us really frustrated and not enjoying themselves...but we decided to hang in there as this is Maple Falls. Â The menu was super limited and really expensive. Â Like $12 to $15 for burger and $21 for salmon or special. Â The beers were I think really special beers..but none that I could recognize or make much sense out of. Â I just wanted a simple Pilsner...not so simple. Â They had no idea.
I ordered  the burger.  It took almost 1 hour to get that burger.  People were frustrated and I was too.  The burger was burned to a crisp, the fries ok, but not great.  My wife's salad that she ordered was drenched in oil and vinegar to the point of being more a soup..and not enjoyable to say the least.  A total "you gotta be kidding". Â
I am pretty positive and willing to accept the foothills for what they are, but this sucks. Â Stay away. Â They have no idea what they are doing. Â Period.
Heading back from Mt. Baker we see the silly "Best Burger according to John Wayne" So we went in for a burger. What we received was an infusion of Northwest and Brazilian. New owner Sam does not mess around. Our dinner was melt in your mouth salmon with a potatoe/carrot/apple salad and a veggie dish of black beans with rice and collard greens. We washed our food down with a house sour (cinnamon and apple) and imported porter. Thank you Sam for the experience! We will see you soon!
