Hubby and I were riding thru the area this past weekend and an antique dealer recommended this place (he says he's a fan of the pie here).
I guess the Sunday specials are always the same--chicken and dumplings, and pork roast and dressing.
Now, mind you, this place is VERY simple....nothing fancy at all. Right down to the plastic table clothes, plastic glasses and plastic plates.
The reason I'm taking off one star is because the bathrooms needed a good cleaning, BUT, we did walk in there a half hour before they were closing. I'm sure that it was the end of a huge rush, given that most places were closed that day and Indiana is already in need of more good places to go.
We ordered the pork roast. It came on a plate with mashed potatoes and gravy, a big scoop of dressing, and a nice helping of pole beans. It was all very tasty. In fact, we cleaned our plates.
I asked the server what she recommended for pie. She said the two best ones were the peanut butter and the coconut. I almost always get peanut butter everything, so I wanted to try the coconut.
IT WAS OUTSTANDING. REAL HOMEMADE STUFF.
We will definitely be back when we pass thru again...
