After a few days in the outdoors, one craves a nice steak. Â Marketplace Steakhouse satisfied the steak cravings of my boyfriend, myself, sister's boyfriend, and offered a tasty salad entree for my vegetarian Sister.
Price's are a bit higher than neighboring restaurants, but what decent steakhouse isn't a bit more pricey than the Country Diner? The atmosphere (like most shops, hotels, and restaurants in the Adirondacks) is rustic and "woodsy". You are at Lake George, embrace the Adirondack ambiance!
A steak and one side is more than enough food. If you do not order a ton of drinks and appetizers, you shouldn't have an overly steep bill awaiting you.
I highly recommend the strip steak. The accompanying sauce is delicious.
Definitely one of my favorite meals on the Lake. I will return.
Gosh, this is a bad restaurant. Â & More!
The main dishes were desperately overcooked, the sauces so cloyingly sweet they could easily  be confused with toppings for the Ben & Jerry's a few blocks away (a typical entree is a chunk of expertly dried-out pork "porterhouse", upright like the plate of a stegasaurus, dripping onion and cherry "chutney"), the bread still frozen (and assurances of new, non-frozen bread forgotten as soon as they'd been made), and the service almost comically terrible (among other things, they forgot to serve the very thing they had successfully upsold me on, which I had accepted just to humor them in the first place).  Oh, and it's extremely expensive to boot.
The entire place should just be put out of its misery. Â Except that it won't be, because Marketplace preys on holiday makers in a town with few other options. Â Eating here, Â it's no wonder that chain restaurant grotesques like Cheesecake Factory have conquered the American landscape. Â They're just better than many of the restaurants people have access to.
My wife & I ate here on our honeymoon.
The ambiance: typical bar dark.
The service: well aside from the waiter Dante thinking I was a woman initially he was pretty on the mark.
The Food:
Jess had Chicken Mushrooming it..which was lots and lots of mushrooms in a white wine sauce and bits of chicken over pasta she really enjoyed her meal.
I had 1/2 rack of ribs with spicy sweet glazed baby carrots & potatoes au gratin.
Although the food was quite good I had a tad bit of indigestion from this meal. Perhaps it was the carrots ? A tad over priced as well.
Ok but coulda been better, won't be my first choice in coming back to Bolton landing for dining.
This was recommended to me by a few family friends who had great things to say about it, but unfortunately my experience wasn't the same. Â We came here with a party of 5. Â The non-steak items were fine, but the service and my steak was awful.
I ordered a filet rare and it came to me well done. Â I gave it back to the waitress and she rolled her eyes and got me another one. Â When she brought another one to me, it was raw - "blue." Â The waitress was incredibly rude again, rolling her eyes and she signed and huffed when I told her it still wasn't cooked appropriately. Â On the third attempt, it was cooked rare and it was okay.
I'm not someone who sends food back because of subjective reasons, like "it's too sweet." Â But I think when a steakhouse can't cook a steak correctly so many times, since this is an objective standard (rare - "cool red center" and 125-130 degrees F) it's not out of line to return it and doesn't require a bad attitude.
Sides were good though.
