I'm traveling for business, and this was the recommended place for a good meal. I wasn't disappointed! Â The restaurant is clean and historic, with some really nice woodwork near the bar. Â The kitchen is fully visible if you sit at the bar, and I enjoyed watching them work.
I would highly recommend the Guinness and cheddar soup, but the sweet potato bisque was great as well. Â Both would be really great on a cold night. Â I had a spectacular pork chop with mac and cheese and green beans. Â The glaze on the chop was superb. Â Portions are large, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. Â They may seem a bit high for this city, but it's worth it for a nice night out.
I'm visiting again tomorrow to try the tuna. Â I can't wait!
Better than my expectation. I have in some wonderful places and the food here tops most of them. The ambiance isn't 5 star but the food is. I am a semi-vegetarian and they made me a vegetarian dish not listed on the menu. It was so good, I wanted to lick my bowl. My husband had prime rib which he raved about. It's pricy and a-la-carte for this small town but for a special occasion, you cannot beat the food. Decatur is fortunate to have Mark and this wonderful place.
Review Source:Excellent steaks. Good seafood. Crab cakes good more backfin than lump but good.
Who would have thunk it. Â In downtown little Decatur, Indiana just across the stree from the courthouse (which was decorated for Christmas) sits Marko on 2nd. Â I struck up a conversation with the waitress who was a long standing resident, and she told me that among other things the place had been a barber shop, a restaurant, a speakeasy and--yes you guess it--a brothel. Â
Now I don't know what it is about former brothels and me, but I have not been disappointed with one yet. Â The steak was excellent, the vegetables were cooked just right and there was a nice selection of desserts.
