Mushy, creamy oysters... And that's not a good thing. We stopped by today and ordered 18 raw oysters and 1 large clam chowder for nearly $60. Ouch! We love oysters, but 90 percent of these were mushy and left a bad taste in my mouth. I LOVE oysters, but I couldn't even finish more than 4 or 5. The clam chowder was really good though.
Review Source:A great place to stop by for oysters & clam chowder if you're in the area! We got here around 2 on a Saturday and there was a small line out the door. The wait wasn't too long, but the establishment itself is pretty small! I only saw two tables indoors, and the rest of the seating was outdoors.
It's cash only! I ordered the clam chowder, and shared the Rockefeller oysters & BBQ oysters (6 pieces each). Not adventurous enough to try the raw ones just yet. You order and then the cashier says it will be brought to you... but what they didn't mention was that the clam chowder is self-serve to the left of the counter. Good thing my sister came here before!
It was a gorgeous day, and it was crowded but luckily we were able to snag a seat along the water. Our order took awhile to come out, but that's probably because the Rockefeller oysters needed to be baked. They just yell out your name, so keep an ear out!
Clam chowder was delicious, not overly creamy or watery, and had good amounts of clam and potatoes to keep you happy. Don't forget to add a splash (or 5 in my case) of tabasco sauce! Oyster crackers are a must, the basket in the self serve area was empty but ask them for some and they'll gladly refill it! What is clam chowder w/o the oyster crackers?!
Oysters were also good, especially for those who don't like / haven't tried raw oysters yet.. the rockefeller oysters were like a tasty bite sized spinach dip w/ oyster! BBQ ones were more simpler with a little bit of butter and their house sauce. All good, but a little pricey for just 6! It was $12 for the BBQ, $14 for the Rockefeller. Â But I'd still say it's worth a try, especially if you made the drive over here!
Small and simple place with a great view,
This is a cash only little place (with an ATM). Â The view is amazing. Â The BBQ oysters are so tender dressed in a yummy spicy sauce and accompanied by really good garlicky bread ($16). Â The tri-tip sandwich and pull-pork sandwich are filled with good meats on really good bread ($10 each). Â The clam chowder is full of clams but could be creamier ($8 for large cup). Â If you see the giant chocolate chip cookies ($2) on the counter, get them. Â Don't expect table cloth and waiter service. Â It's very basic and casual. Â You order at the counter and grab a seat inside or outside.
Review Source:You would be hard pressed to find a better location to relax on a nice day and slurp down some oysters. But bring cash cause they don't take card! I'm thinking their second highest grossing business is ATM fees! Ha. Of all the oysters we had the BBQ definitely stood out as our favorite. The clam chowder was good too. In particular because it had a light texture instead of an overly creamy consistency. Â
The menu goes way beyond just oysters so there is plenty to try.  Seems most people find a good spot outside and park themselves with a few bottles of wine, or some of the good microbrews offered inside, and just spend some quality time with the view. Hard to complain with that.
After a bad experience at Hog Island, we decided to finish lunch at this place. We ordered a wide variety of things (we were a party of 4)The only thing that was worth eating were the oysters and the clam chowder. Sandwiches, fish tacos (augh!!), fish plate, etc... were a horrible waste of money, did not taste good, and were greatly overpriced. Ended up paying over $100 for a meal NOBODY enjoyed. I can think of a hundred upscale places where we'd have a similar bill but actually enjoy upscale food and service. Needless to say, quality does not meet price by miles in this place. I don't know what's wrong with these outlets around Tomales Bay. They charge a fortune for less than average food quality and service. $25 at a fast food restaurant would have served us better. WIll never come back here and will definitely warn friends from wasting their money at this place. I wish I had something nice to say.
Review Source:Beware, cash only!
The cooked oysters were on point! We ordered way too many for the 2 of us, but we finished everything: half dozen kilpatrick, half dozen bbq oysters, half dozen chorizo oysters, halibut ceviche, and fish tacos. I certainly just wanted cooked oysters with a side of tabasco and lemon, but I was flustered and just got whatever that was on the menu. The bbq oysters were probably the best out of the 3, it wasn't too flavorful but the oysters were so good! The chorizo were okay, there was meat on top and I thought it masked the flavor of the oysters. The kilpatrick were ehh... like I said, I should've just gotten plain cooked oysters. The ceviche was so good... mmm... sliced jalapenos pairs very well with the shrimp/fish. My bf had the fish tacos which he finished, I didn't get to try em. For drinks, I had the Point Reyes Porter which was SO GOOD!!! Smooth, coffee like beer. My bf had the "Cock n' Bull" ginger beer which he thought was okay. All of this came out to $90. Expensive!
This is a great alternative to Tamales Bay Oyster Company if you and your group don't want to cook it yourself. Although pricey, so worth it! Probably one of the best oysters we've ever had! Seating was a challenge for us but we luckily found an empty table near the register to sit at.
2.50$ / oyster  ..... REALLY ? i got back from Spain, even they have 1euro / oyster
if i would not have biked there 30 miles one way just for the oysters - i'd be really disappointed.
not sure if it makes sense to make the trip there now, Â if you can get 2.5 times cheaper in the city
Get me right, i loved this place to death, spend there many wonderful hours with friends, oysters taste AWESOME ... but not for this price
P.S. i think they do 1$/ oyster on Thursdays only
We LOVE this place! Anytime we want to get away for the day, we head directly to the Marshall store. The oysters are always fresh and delicious. I never liked baked oysters until I tried the Rockefellers here. Yummy in my tummy.
We also tried the ceviche and my mouth is watering thinking about it now.
You just can't go wrong here!
P.S. Bring cash, they don't take cards.
I'm in love with their smoked oysters! Â Amazing taste! Â Hubby also ordered 2 different plates of raw oysters which were great as well.
The chowder was good even though we had to re-orient ourselves away from the creamy ones that we're used to.
Outside seating is the best with very cool views of the bay and the accompanying (chilly) wind.
The only con was porta potties for restrooms! Attention restaurant management, seriously, for the prices you charge, a real restroom should not be a tall order.
Note: Â cash only.
This was the highlight food stop of my recent trip to No Cal. Amazing view and surrounding scenery helped attribute to the 5 star rating for sure. Shack-like storefront with cool wooden, long tables and surrounding dock to eat your meal and have a beer/wine. Ample parking by the water. Order your food inside, and the speedy, polit server will bring them out to you.
Raw Oysters: Fresh, briny, sea flavored with no hint of fishiness. No need to drown them in hot sauce, horseradish or your standard accoutrements because you really want to taste these things.
Smoked Oysters on Crostini: Very nice and saves you from getting your hands dirty. Great compliment of flavors.
BBQ Oysters: Smoky, on the half shell, with tasty crisp bacon, onion, and just the right amount of BBQ sauce. 2nd best cooked oyster I've ever had.
Chorizo butter oysters: Balanced...think salty, slighty spicy, slightly tangy then a smoky sweet oyster gushes into a buttery sweet cream finish. The BEST oyster of my life.
Beer pairing: Moylon's Orange and Black went nicely with the smoky oysters
Prices aren't cheap but not exorbitant. Regardless, whatever the price is, it is so worth it to enjoy the freshness and grandeur of their Oysters in such a "chill" setting.
Great stop for oysters on the bay if you haven't planned in advance. They get oysters from the locals, always fresh. You sit right on the bay and go to town. Usually have a couple of good chilled whites on site (mostly Kermit Lynch imports). A couple of oyster choices (1-2 raw plus BBA and other grilled ones too) and it ends up being ~$2-3/oyster but they sell them by the 6. Yes there are a few other seafood choices too, but the focus is on the oysters.
Unlike Hog Island you don't need reservations or Tomales Bay Oyster Co you don't need to get there early. Those places are better for groups. This place is perfect for the lazy sunny day up in Marin. Also service is quick! And yet you don't feel rushed.
one of my favorite places of all time.
perhaps it's the memory of the first time i was there -- eating oysters by myself on a dock overlooking tamales bay for the first time. i was in my mid-twenties and that otis song hit the spot so perfectly.
perhaps it's the last time i was there with some of my favorite people at dusk, the oysters, the good laughs.
perhaps it's how oysters are like drugs, and tomales bay is an easy day vacation for us city folks, leaving us replenished & happy.
The first thing that attracted us to this place was the YUMMY CHOWDER sign. Â YUMMY CHOWDER is definitely reason enough for me to stop.
This place is basically as shack with a long, quite beautiful outdoor bar overlooking Tamales Bay. Â The clam chowder was outstanding, but the fish chowder was the highlight - a surprising and random assortment of seafood (fish+shellfish) in a broth of equally surprising complexity. Â
They also serve beer and Tamales Bay oysters (fully prepared), so I am excited to go back and enjoy that winning combination.
This place is a gem! Incredible oysters (I understand they own an oyster farm nearby), and clam chowder. The Dungeness Crab with remoulade sandwich was 10x better than Fish, Sausalito's butter bomb. Wife had the fish tacos. All great. Beautiful scenery.
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, being so remote, but I loved it.
Stopped by this place after buying some oysters at Tomales Bay Oyster Co. We remembered this place was featured on Eye On The Bay so we dropped in. We had a bag of oysters in our ice chest so we ordered the clam chowder. $8 for a large bowl!!! It was good but $8 good? Next time we'll try the oysters instead.
Review Source:Best spot along the whole coast! Absolutely delicious and super Beautiful view. Nice friendly seating area. Everyone that works here is super cool and helpful! Remember they work in food service so they too live on tips! Big friendly Tip jar next to the register ya cant miss it, you'll make their day and they'll always got that extra mile for you.
If your in Marin or even Petaluma on a nice day off I highly recommend an adventure out their way! Especially if its during the week because its not too busy = Â quick friendly service! Make sure u go before 3 though because they tend to shut down the deli early when its slow during a off season week day.
Great wine and beer selections! Super fresh bread they get from the bakery fresh daily!
Treat yourself hit up Marshall any time any day Id say its suuuper worth it! Save any seafood cravings for them, because most importantly its actually FRESH SEAFOOD!!!!!
Great fresh Oysters but even better scenic experience! If you get a chance to drive up the coast on Hwy 1 stop here for lunch (a short drive from the city or down from Bodega Bay) The restaurant is right on water and the road. There is no "inside" seating but there is a long (I mean long) bar table outside. One side is 10ft or less from the road the other side is the railing to the marina/bay.
They have your traditional raw oysters, but a variety of grilled oysters that are delicious. Oysters eaten in this setting is how they should be eaten. My favorite was the oysters with chorizo butter! So many options here. A place you must check off your list.
We love this place. The service is great and the food can't be beat. We've been here several times. Yesterday we took a day trip from Sacramento and stopped in for some lunch. We had the fabulous fish stew, bbq'd oysters, and fish tacos. All superb! The seat with a view over the bay the sun shining down and no seagulls to be found were wonderful! Our fish tacos were a little late coming to us so we were given a couple of crab tacos on the house. Must say, loved the crab tacos! This is a must stop while driving the coast highway. DON'T JUST DRIVE BY! Stop and enjoy.
Review Source:Ok! Short and sweet:
Great service, awesome food, incredible view, one of the most beautiful places you could possibly stop to eat. It's right off of Highway 1, and overlooks the bay between Point Reyes and the shore proper.
A couple that was at our table eating had rented kayaks for the day in Inverness and just kayaked across the water to grab lunch here before going back. That's now top of my list of summer lunch excursions to try!
The place is very small and almost always busy, it can be tough to find a seat, but the crowd that eats there is almost all folks who are traveling up and down the coast, are very friendly, and almost always know of another amazing secret stop in the area.
Here's some details - really great fresh oysters, a super simple and spare shop/bar where you can buy food and drinks (although you can't drink alcohol "on premises," you just have to walk about five feet to the amazing outdoor seating that isn't "on premises.")
Cash only, small selection of drinks, but very good selection of food. And wow it's good food! A must visit!
Hands down the best oysters I've had. Â Only one interruption in my dining experience by a bunch of rude cyclists who merely wanted to use the place for a free water refill station, ugh. Â The service was great and very informed. Â You can tell these people love their oysters and have extensive knowledge on top of that. Â The dining area is modest yet comfortable. Â The restaurant is clean and the oysters are ALWAYS fresh!!!! Â (can't go wrong with the kumamoto's)
Review Source:Oysters are very fresh and delicious, too bad they are so tiny=/ Cost wasn't too bad considering the freshness (I mean, how much more fresh can you get literally on the bay??) All the dishes we got were good. Shrimp cocktail and clam chowder was super tastey! FYI..they are a cash only place, so bring your wallet!!
Review Source:My wife & I took a ride out to The Marshall Store yesterday, and had such an AWESOME experience! Â The staff was very laid back and friendly, and the oysters, mussels and vino were excellent!
If you're looking for a romantic place to spend an afternoon, The Marshall Store is a MUST. Â Enjoy!
When the cuzzos from Joizey come into town, we always try to hit up this place at least once. Usually we try to come during the week when it's not too crowded, but even on the weekend, we've been able to find a spot to house our trays and trays of freshly shucked oysters. I know you can get oysters for a bit cheaper down the road, but you have to shuck them yourselves. Me? Um no. I'd pay the extra money for someone to do that for me. Why spend that precious time shucking them, when you can just eat them.
I think our last visit here, we easily ate 1 1/2-2 dozen oysters each. Â Had a cup of clam chowder and some beers, and we were high on life. Raw with some lemon juice and tabasco. Yum. My fave way to eat oysters.
So bad for the cholesterol, but soooooo good for the soul.
Nothing beats spending the last Sunday of 2012 hiking EXCEPT oysters at the Marshall Store.
Wow, this place is a gem. Fabulous view of the waterfront, fresh oysters shucked (I've shucked oysters before and learned to leave that "wonderful" experience to the experts). We shared a bowl of  clam chowder, half dozen of the BBQ oysters, and half dozen of the Kilpatrick oysters.
The clam chowder is on the lighter side (prefer creamier) and had a delicious overabundance of clams. Out of the two types of oysters, the BBQ was the winner as the flavor of the Kilpatrick was overpowered by the bacon (sorry bacon!) and Worchestire sauce so I could barely taste the oyster.
Cash only. Everyone is super friendly. Perfect to savor seafood and enjoy the sunset. Happiness overload.
Heaven in a shell is what's on the menu here! If you've never experienced the joy that is Marshall store, then I suggest you take a moment before finishing this review to hit the "bookmark" tab and then make a date to get yourself and a your S/O or group of friends up there ASAP!
I'm all about immediate gratification. Spending my time prepping and shucking oysters really isn't my style and simply delays getting those yummy oysters into my mouth. Â The name can be a bit deceiving, as it is less of a store and more like a no frills oyster bar that sits on Tomales Bay.
Situated off Highway 1, Marshall Store is a must stop during a day trip up the 1. It's fairly small with a couple of tables in the ordering area and additional seating in the enclosed grilling area. But who wants to sit inside when you can sit outside along the bay and better yet - drink your own libations?!? Yes, that's right you can BYOB. But here's the rub, you can only do it in the outdoor sitting areas. Marshall store has cups and corks available for use . The menu really isn't that extensive, but when you do oysters this well it really doesn't need to be.
Here are my favorites:
1. Smoked oysters on crostini with cowgirl creamery cheese! LORD!!!! Something this tasty should be illegal! It ALWAYS sells out and if it's available when you happen to be there, consider yourself lucky!
2. Chorizo with chorizo butter. This is a very close runner up to my number 1 and I have come very close to overdosing on it. The juice is sooooo good and failure to soak it up with the crusty garlic bread that accompanies it would be a travesty.
3. Raw oysters. Baby I like it Rawwwww with lemon and mignonettes. It always hits the spot!
Here's the game plan for having an Amazing time at Marshall store.
1. If weather is sketchy, call the morning of and confirm their hours for that day.
2. Bring cash. Lot's of cash. They have an ATM inside, but save yourself the service charge or pistivity that you will feel if it happens to be out of order that day.
3. BYOB
4. Arrive early. No one ever wants to just eat and leave this place. You will definitely want to linger. They close around 4-5. Getting there around closing time and then having to pack up and leave SUCKS!
5. This place fills up quick and if you go on a beautiful sunny day, finding seating outside is much like winning the lottery. Refer back to number 4, and if you do see open seating - have someone guard it with their life!
6. Kick back, enjoy the scenery, good food, good wine, and good company.
Nothing beats heading over to Hog Island with a group of friends to bring a picnic and shuck your own oysters. Â But, if you're not prepared to do this and need to stop for a quick bite to eat, this is the place. Â We were headed down from Sebastopol to Point Reyes and we were hungry!
The Marshall Store is by the dock. Â They have tables right along the water, which is perfect on a nice day, especially a weekday so it's not too crowded. Â We opted for 6 raw oysters, 6 BBQ oysters and a cup of chowder. Â A warning: this place is cash only and the oysters are not cheap. Â At least you know they are fresh and you don't have to do any of the work. Â All the condiments and utensils are provided!
The raw oysters were served with a lemon mignonette. Â The BBQ oysters were my favorite - just lightly cooked and the sauce was delicious. Â They were also served with garlic bread, which complemented the BBQ sauce nicely. Â Chowder was hearty without being too thick. Â Good flavor. Â I would come again for the BBQ oysters. Â The raw oysters I would go next door to Hog Island for.
We shared the oysters rockafeller, which was good but not amazing. Probably would try another style of oyster next time. The clam chowder was very tasty and the baked brie was also very good. There was so much on the menu that I'd have to come back to try: like the tri-tip, fish tacos, etc that I hear are good so I will be back for another half day trip/drive up the coast.
What really sets this place apart is the deck and small seating area off the road they set up overlooking the bay. Cannot beat that view!
Since we were at Bodega Bay, we decided to drive down 40 min to try the BBQ oysters. Â Since Hog Island was valet parking or park down the road and walk, we headed over Marshall Store instead which had parking. Â
You order at the cashier and then sit outside or at the tables inside. Â It is cash only and runs for 1/2 dozen about $12 for raw oysters and $14 for BBQ oysters with garlic and butter and house sauce. Â They also offer oysters rockefeller and an option with bacon. Â For those looking for non-oyster items, they had a fish stew, sandwiches, etc..
Love this place! Â Great spot for a day trip from San Francisco!
My girlfriend and I arrived to find a line nearly out the door to order. Â The line moved quickly though (maybe an advantage of being cash-only...) and we ordered a Tri-tip sandwich, shrimp cocktail, and the BBQ-ed oysters. Â The one downside is that they don't seem to allow you to create a sampler of the different BBQ-ed and raw oysters (at least not when they're really busy). Â Kind of a bummer but we moved on quickly.
The tri-tip was great. Â It's smoked in-house and finished on the barbecue with the oysters barbecuing around it. Â Great flavor, really juicy, tender, just a winner - and it's served with a small portion of homemade pickled veggies which were surprisingly perfect to go with it. Â The shrimp cocktail was nothing special but expectations were not high to begin with.
But the oysters. Â Oh man. Â The BBQ sauce is simple (but not ketchup like I've seen in other reviews) - it's just light enough that it doesn't take anything away from the oyster, it just adds a little tangy sweetness. Â The oysters were cooked perfectly too by the way, which I consider a feat considering just how busy they can get.
After we ate on the patio overlooking the water, we wandered back inside to watch the process from start to finish. Â The guys inside are incredibly friendly, patient, and funny. Â We asked Josh (AWESOME guy who was handling all the raw oysters) a ton of questions and chatted with the staff for over an hour while they shucked and cooked. Â Honestly - some of the nicest, funnest people we've ever met.
We tried some of the raw oysters on Josh's recommendation, and WOW. Â So fresh, so simple, and just SO good. Â If you go here, just try the raw oysters. Â It's worth it. Â
I highly recommend that you give this place a try.
Here's a few clues 4 when you are in a BAD oyster joint.
1. NO running water in the establishment, pit toilets outside somewhere, follow your nose.
2. NO liquor license, you have to drink ON a dangerous curved road.
3. MOST of the reviews LOVE the BarBQ oysters (they COULD be canned:(
that's how dumb you are; you love ketchup too right?
4. DOUBLE San Fran/ Marin HIGH Prices...you've been HAD! EAT IT, of course you give it a great review, YOU're no LOSER.
CALL first, they close early, and unpredictably if you are lucky. Namaste'
PS your oysters were bought down the road before they tripled the price.
After a 10 mile hike, food was much needed. This place popped up on yelp with stellar reviews and it's been awhile since I indulged in some good oysters.
The place was PACKED when we went in (around 2:30 on a Saturday). However, the line moves quickly.
note: CASH ONLY. sigh. There's an ATM on site but there's also a $2 fee. sigh sigh. make sure you grab some cash beforehand.
I opted for a half dozen of the BBQ oysters and a small clam chowder. The clam chowder is self serve, and if you're a cheap Asian like me you can get your money's worth and fill it alllllll the way up to the top haha. Luckily our group found a table inside and our food came out pretty quickly.
The oysters are fantastic. Grilled to perfection on the BBQ and the house sauce is very tasty, but doesn't overpower the oysters. It comes with grilled sourdough bread. The chowder is also very good here with nice chunks of clam, but not too huge to the point where it gets a little annoying to gnaw on.
My friend is allergic to shellfish and asked the women at the cash register if there was any shellfish in the fish stew. The woman thought about it and said no, and we mentioned my friend was allergic. She said no, it should be fine. Well, my friend was eating her stew and spit out a piece of clam. She got her money back for the soup without a problem, but jeez guys.. if a person has allergies, you need to be 120% sure.
Luckily they also have an assortment of sandwiches (turkey, etc) that your non-seafood eating friends can indulge in. Will definitely come by again next time I'm hiking in the area!
This place is SO great. Â Fun outdoor casual seating. Â Delicious fresh food. Â Smiling servers. Â Dog friendly. Â Not too crowded. Â Perfect on a sunny day (but don't forget a jacket, its a little breezy on the water).
We loved both kinds of BBQed oysters we tried (BBQ with house sauce and garlic butter and Chorizo). Â Served with grilled sourdough, these weren't delicate East Coast oysters-- these bad boys were big, meaty, and chewy-- not the kind I like to eat raw, particularly, but BBQed, they were awesome. Â The chowder was also stellar. Â
Sitting here, looking at Tomales Bay, sipping on a beer...can't think of too many better ways to spend an afternoon in the Greater Bay Area.
Yelpsop's Fables
"The obsequious oyster"
One fine California morning, an oyster awoke from his comfortable bed in Tomales Bay and decided that it was time to do his duty. He was ready to be eaten.
But where, he wondered, would be best? He was a very thoughful little mollusc and didn't want to be devoured by just anybody. He did not wish to be tossed unceremoniously into an anonymous mesh bag and torn apart by a drunken bunch of rabble rousers, all naked and raw, by someone who might not appreciate his sacrifice. To end one's life squirted with lime juice and TapatÃo hot sauce was so NOT what he dreamed about. He wanted to go out in style!
So, he arrived not at the Tomales Bay Oyster Company's jam-packed picnic site, nor at the equally infested Hog Island operation up the street, but here, at the little Marshall Store, where a modest number of respectable people (by and large) had gathered outside to talk, to eat, and admire the view over the bay.
Yes, he thought, here is where I belong: on a $15 Rockefeller plate, with local cheese, butter, fresh spinach, and bread crumbs, removed gently with a small metal fork, and eaten slowly by someone who would savor each bite.
So there he came to rest: beside a small mound of local mussel shells still fragrant in a wine and fennel sauce; next to an empty plate of BBQ oyster shells and an order of fish tacos; resting in-between half-finished bottles of Sierra Nevada and Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale.
There, the obsequious oyster cast one final look at his home of Tomales Bay, on a cool but sunny afternoon in late May, surrounded by five of his close friends.
It was a good life here, he thought: clean water, cool breezes, mild winters, and lots of solitude. I'm glad that I can share this place with others. After all, me mused, they came all this way on a weekend road trip to meet (and eat) me! And to wander the beaches of Point Reyes, to hike to the tip of Tomales Point, and to admire its green rolling hillsides. They made a point of coming here, to a historic roadside oyster bar on the Marin County coast, a few feet from fabled Highway One, and a mere stone's throw from the San Andreas fault that had created the bay that he called home. Wow. What a great thing for a little bivalve like me.
It was, indeed, a wonderful place to be an oyster. And a great spot to eat them!
Moral: If your food lives a happy and healthy life, so too, can you. Just like the oysters living here in Tomales Bay.
I came here during the week on a recommendation from a local. Â There was sun, outdoor patio seating overlooking the bay, some girls jamming on the guitar, overall a good vibe especially with the promise of fresh oysters.
And fresh they were. Â We ordered a bunch of food including fish soup, raw oysters, BBQ oysters, chorizo oysters, jerk chicken sandwich, tri-tip sandwich. Â The fresh raw oysters were awesome. Â The cooked ones were tasty too. The soup was just ok. Â They forgot our order of sandwiches until we reminded them 20min later. Â And they were actually quite disappointing. Â The jerk chicken sandwich was more like a sweet BBQ chicken sandwich with a little heat.
Their oysters are great and they should just stick to that. I understand their need to offer something more substantial, but their sandwiches are expensive and not good.
But I give them 2 stars plus 1 for awesome oysters and plus 1 for having a nice shack, literally.
FYI: they do sell beer but you can't drink it on the patio. Â Their bathroom is port-a-potty.
Wow. This place is pretty much my idea of heaven. Plates and plates of BBQ oysters (make sure you have cash, or this place will be more like HELL while you wait without delicious BBQ oysters, smelling them and seeing everyone else eating them but being unable to have any!!! - Just kidding, it's ok there's an ATM you can use right there :-) My only complaint is that their garlicky bread is TOO crusty, as delicious as it was. It's good for sopping up oyster juice to soften it up a little.
Anyway, go here! Have BBQ oysters. Squirt some of that chipotle sauce onto them, the stuff that's in the squeeze bottles on the tables. Buy some beer or wine to enjoy with your oysters, but know that you can only get your drink on if you're sitting at the counter along the water next to the highway, NOT the counters on the deck attached to the store itself. They have some weird rules about not being able to drink in their building, but I guess it's OK if you walk 50 feet away and DRINK IN PUBLIC? Whatever! Go here.
