What a fantastic, relaxing, congenial, well run place! We visit the area often, and always must stop in at Marston's for wonderful food and libation!
Clean, fun, energetic without being over the top (like a lot of places in a college town can be). Appropriate for everyone (families, older farts like me, singles... everyone!).
Taco Tuesday is a scream! Two Dollar Tacos that are terrific. Â The chef does a wonderful job especially with so many specialty tacos. Ask for the full explanation of each taco and try a few! The big problem I had was I that I was full and just wanted more of those tacos! Â mark you calendar for Taco Tuesday and I will see you there for lunch! oh My so many taco types and so little stomach space! What am I to do?
Review Source:I don't give out too many 5-star reviews, but the tri-tip sandwich alone deserves the praise (beef rib is great, too). Â Lots of places in the Farmer's Market draw crowds by either: Â solely relying on brand recognition, exploiting their 15 minutes of fame (Rib Line), or pure gimmickry (F. McLintocks).
Enter Marston's. Â This is where good, honest food marries with techniques born from pure genius. Â Cooking a seasoned tri-tip over red oak is standard in these parts. Â However, Marston's does three things that results in the BEST tri-tip sandwich ($8, Thursday nights). Â First, they perfectly cook the meat (not dry, not bloody). Â Second, they slice the meat on a deli slicer, resulting in succulent cuts that are easy to eat and have a satisfying, smoky bite. Â Third, you can opt to envelop your tri-tip in an awesome garlic bread bun (highly recommended). Â
Perfection. Â It's the tri-tip sandwich "gold standard".
Ok guys. Â I know what you are thinking. Â Cant be good for food, its only a bar. Â That is in fact FALSE. Â I love this place. Â Great food good drinks and better people work here. Â Go there any day of the week for great specials. Â Taco Tuesdays is best around. Â I think they said there is 10 different types of tacos that they can make. Â Their burgers are Delicious and anything they have BBQ is Delicious. Â OH and they have a great breakfast. Â I thought i would never say this but better than Breakfast Buzz. Â Stop by. have a great time with great people and most of all have good eats and good drinks.
Review Source:Amazing tacos ! Three little pigs , get it and order it no questions just amazingness :) they are catering our wedding as well and happily to recommend them to anyone !
There breakfast is amazing as well , i had the skillet with bottomless mimosa and enjoyed the awesome people that work there.
These guys really know how to take care of you and the food is great to boot! Service is so friendly and accommodating, I really enjoy working nearby and look forward to my breaks to grab a beer and some grub every once in a while. They have the best turkey melt I've ever had in my life. TRY IT.
This place holds a fond place in my heart because the staff here introduced me to my new favorite beer: Great White. Anyone who is a fan of Shock Top or Blue Moon will definitely love this! They also have events like beer pong and karaoke so there's always something fun goin on. Come on by!
Went for our weekly happy hour hang out and they did not disappoint. Â Marston's has many screens for watching the game and really good food. Â I am in love with their chicken taquitos and frito chili bowl. Â Not sure if this speaks to the popularity of the place but we saw one of the news anchors for ksby at Marstons. Â Bottom line: this place has earned a yummy award from me.
Review Source:Love this place. Great atmosphere with open doors that allow you to have an afternoon drink right on higuera street. The bartenders are awesome and the country feel is perfect; complete with a giant animal head on the wall. This is my number 1 place to hangout and enjoy a nice cold frosty one!!!!
Review Source:Roadtripped this weekend to Monterey and thought we would stop thru a local fave-- found via yelp! Â We stopped in on Friday @ 730-- happy hour had just ended leaving the bar kind of scarce! I would like to come back when it is in the middle of happy hour to get a true feel about the joint! Our server which was i think also the owner was very attentive and made us feel fabulous. I really liked the jukebox playing all types of music. It wasnt just another bar with your typical "repeat cd" on. We wanted match this local fave spot with a fave local brewski-- Â so we got a pitcher of their signature 805 beer. Â DIVINE! Â I am probably going to try and search for some of their brew in my local liquor store! Â yum! The food is your typical bar food. not the best thing you ever put in your mouth however not the worst either. Â Their wings were pretty tastey though! Overall, cute cozy spot!
Review Source:We had the rack of beef ribs during the thursday night farmers market along with garlic bread. Great dry rub on the ribs and a mild taste of smoke from the wood grill. They also sell pulled pork, tri-tip chili, tri-tip sandwich and sausage during the farmers market.
Did not go in the brick and mortar restaurant so, I can't speak for the rest of the establishment.
Had dinner two nights ago right as Farmers was wrapping up and the food and drinks were great! We split the onions rings, and I dare to say they might be the best in town!! I had the sliders, a personal fave. They let you choose three from six or seven different varieties. The Western had bbq, bacon, and an onion ring. The Buffalo was buffalo chicken and blue cheese, and American and Bacon was just as described. You can also have any salad as a wrap, and my boyfriend really enjoyed his buffalo chicken wrap. Their selection of beer on tap was great! My Blue Moon was perfection. I noticed they also serve bottomless mimosas on Sundays (have yet to try, but definitely will in the future!) Really friendly staff and lively atmosphere!
Review Source:We finally had a chance to stop by Marston's since the change from Marti's. As regular patrons to the previous establishment, we were hoping for a positive experience and we weren't let down. It's still a small bar with bar food, but it's retained it's charm while adding some small touches to the decor. I won't say they were necessary changes, but they help the place look a little cleaner and classier; still a very comfortable place to have a drink. The food was not very good before, and I'm pleased to say, that this has been the area of the most improvement. The only good thing to eat before were the bruschetta and tacos, but NOW everything sounds great, and the items we got were excellent. My wife had a huge turkey sandwich on a croissant with delicious onion rings and I had The Marston. A corned beef sandwich on toasted bread with Irish cheddar, stone ground mustard and pickles. The corned beef was the best I've ever had! Thick, more like bacon, with minimal fat and plenty of spices. The fries were good... fresh potato style with perfect seasoning. Their beer selection has greatly improved as well, with more offerings on tap and plenty in the bottle. The Century Club is sadly no longer (of which I am a proud member) but I was told something like it is in the works called the Road Trip. All in all a great experience. Our server Josh was really friendly and even attentive to our daughter's snacking needs. This is still high on my list and still a perfect spot to have a drink and a bite during Farmer's Market or any other day of the week.
Review Source:Went there for the 3rd time this week!!!! Those tacos, wings, and there chicken slider are addiciting!!!!! If you want good filling american food, i highly reccomend coming here!!!!!
Drinks were amazing! cheap, good, strong. I got a classic martini, and then had 5 random drinks that I have never heard of, and they blew my mind.
I still havent ate the Farmers market Bar-B-Que yet.... But im sure ill be back thursday for it...
Not to loud, but had a fun autmoshere. Â I'll let you know more later!
Do not go here for breakfast! I went here for brunch and football, and was surprised when I found out that they don't serve coffee or bloody marys with breakfast! Â I looked around, and most people had coffee from across the street, which is what we had to do. Â
I ordered a skillet. Â It consisted of unseasoned scrambled eggs, some cheese, little bacon, (they forgot the onions) all on top of a McDonalds style hash brown patty. Â This patty is NOT considered hash browns! Â It looked and tasted cheap, not worth the 8 dollars! Â My friend ordered the breakfast burrito, and one of those crappy hash browns were wrapped within!
I read from the other reviews there is a new chef,, I cannot believe a chef put this crap together
