Stumbled on this place while driving around looking for somewhere to eat and drink after work. I was in town for business so did not know much of what was around there.

I had the fish n chips. This plate might have had over 1lb of fish on it. Granted it was haddock that didn't matter because there was a load of it. The tartar was great as well and the french fries were hot and crispy.

Great selection of beers on tap as well and the inside decor had that old dark feel to it that you should be used to inside irish pubs. I would definitely come back if I get the chance to.

We walked in at 8 PM on Saturday and it was busy and the sign by the door said open seating. I prefer to be seated by the greeter, but perhaps this is part of the Irish ambiance. We jumped on a table as soon as a few guests left and it was promptly cleaned off. Our first drink orders seemed to take a little bit of time, but after that the server was quick and very pleasant.

The appetizers were delicious. We had to try the battered bacon and Irish nachos. the battered bacon was every bit as amazing as it sounds, and if i die due to a heart attack tomorrow, it won't be a surprise.

When the time came to order the main dish it seemed that unfortunately they were sold out of about 1/4 of the menu, hopefully that can be chalked up to growing pains and won't be an issue in the future.

The corned beef and cabbage was really good and I tried a bite of the Mccarthy melt as well and It was also very good.

The beer prices seemed a little high at $5 for a 20 oz. draft. I personally was disappointed with the selection. The only authentic Irish beers were Guinness, Harp, and Smithwick's  which are available everywhere, so there was nothing really new to try there.

All in all the experience was positive and I plan to return at least once and try out a different Irish dish.

Finally! Sioux City has an authentic Irish pub! This town has been in dire need of some fresh new places. McCarthy and Baileys fits that bill! The interior is beautiful and immediately it is apparent that much effort was put into creating an authentic, but beautiful pub experience!

The owner Rick is a super nice guy and the food was top notch! We asked about the freshness of the fish and chips, etc and as Rick put it, the only thing frozen in that building is the ice cream! If you get a chance, please check this place out.this is exactly the type of business we need to support in this town!  Thanks again Rick!!
