Meacham's has some SERIOUSLY good food. What these people can do to an onion ring is absolutely diabolical. Everything I've ordered here has been so far beyond what I expected out of a hidden place in a hidden town. The chicken fried steak, pork chops, burgers, even the clam chowder and butterfly shrimp deliciously highlight a truly well rounded menu. I've never been even remotely disappointed with the food here.
However.....
The servers seem to have caught onto the fact that people will come in droves to belly up to their tables no matter what they do. They have to be the most unwelcoming people I've ever seen at a restaurant. Your drinks will probably stay filled, they won't forget about you or anything, but it seems like every trip to your table is an inconvenience for them. They regularly slam the drinks on the table, rush you through the ordering process, never greet you when you walk in the door (the process for getting a table is still a bit of a mystery to me), and definitely don't show any appreciation for you coming in. Also, I'm fairly certain that our last waitress was wearing pajamas. I guess they know that there's nowhere else to go. Why go to all the trouble of being nice? It does save you from having to tip well, though.
I'd still come for the eats, and even though I'll probably have spit in my food on my next trip I bet they'll somehow find a way to make that taste delicious.
We ate here while vacationing at Crown Point Resort in Horseshoe Bend Arkansas. It was one of the only restaurants that we found open after 8:00 pm in the area besides fast food. It was a small place that didn't look like much but we actually were pleasantly surprised! I ordered the fried shrimp and my husband ordered the fried catfish and both were good. The cole slaw was delicious! The service was very good and I would go there again.
Review Source:We took the in-laws here for dinner over our Thanksgiving visit. We really enjoyed the onion rings and thank goodness we got the half order for the four of us to share - it was HUGHE! I ordered the baked chicken breast which was disappointing and looked like it was microwaved. Next time, I'm getting the patty melt. It was HUGE and prepared on thick (Texas toast like) marble Rye bread. The grilled cheese was a hit and enough for two people and filled with a ton of cheese. The staff was super friendly and our drinks were kept filled. The only diet soda was diet Dr. Pepper. We'll definitely go back when we are visiting family in the area.
