The choices of restaurants are limited in Philippi, West Virginia. I think it'd be more fair to review and judge this restaurant based on the fact that this is a local spot in a small town like Philippi. Â But the food and service should speak for itself. Therefore I can't help but still give a 2 star review--
"Townies" come here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They had a lunch buffet but it didn't look appetizing to me. Â Someone mentioned they had too many vegetable dishes going on (haha)! Â Bottomless coffee - yay! Except we had difficulty getting our waitress' attention to refill our coffee cups when they were empty. Â This place reminds me of a local version of Denny's. Â That means jelly, creamer, butter, and sugar comes in little packets.
I ordered the Steak Hoagie with waffle fries. Â I think I make a better steak hoagie personally! I should've mentioned I prefer my bread toasted but I didn't want anyone spitting in my bread (i.e. the movie Waiting from 2005 about restaurants and food). I already hassled about more coffee and changing my regular fries to waffle fries. Â Waitress was not happy with me! But i think my demands were relatively normal! Anywho, back to the sandwich. Thin slices of steak, green pepper, and mozzarella cheese thrown on a hoagie bun. Â Sounds appetizing but it was only so-so. Â Waffle fries on the other hand were BOMB! Crunchy, seasoned, fried waffle cut potatoes that I drowned in ketchup. Â Sooooo goooood.
Prices are decent though and there aren't too many other eateries around here so i would stop by if you're ever in this area and hungry.
