  I had the pleasure of spending time at Melanie's Porch last weekend, this new "hot" spot of Georgia was opened by an ex bartender from Chicago who thinks she's a rock star.  You'll feel right at home in this outdoor lounge with its cozy, cool ambience and comfortable furniture.  Latern lights hang overhead to keep the mood just right, and it only adds to the hip, retro atmosphere when they fall on your head.  Lively conversations reverberate from every corner, on any given night you can overhear chatter regarding everything from Jesus to lightening to Flavor Flav.  Thursday night's drink special is a favorite among the regulars, the "Goblet" is a refreshing mix of Bacardi and peach, of course there's always plenty of low-carb Michelob to go around and my old standby the "Melanie Moose".  Before you go to bed make sure to stop and chat with the owner Melanie, she will regale you endlessly (and I mean endlessly) with amusing stories until your belly hurts and you beg for mercy.  This fun and swanky patio is a must see when in Georgia, I'll sure be going back.  Just remember -bring your duck tape and no carbs allowed.
