My friends & I were planning a ride on our motorcycles to see the Freedom Rock near Menlo. I looked on Yelp to find a place for lunch. The reviews were good so we stopped. There were 6 of us and it was 1:00 Saturday afternoon. There were quite a few people in the restaurant but it only took a few minutes to get our food. 3 of our group had the tenderloin and LOVED it. It was HUGE and could easily be shared by 2 people since it also comes with a LARGE helping of fries. I had the special which was the Philly and onion rings. It was good. The others had the chicken sandwich and the hot beef. We all left full and VERY happy. The prices were very low. Each couple got out of there for less than $20 each including tip. The waitress was very friendly and gave us extra information and directions to the Freedom Rock. It is only a few miles off highway 80.

Traveling back home from a long East coast trip. Decided we were tired of fast, processed food! On a whim, we decided to yelp local restaurants in the area... happened to be about 5 miles from Menlo & this was the only place that came up.  SO GLAD WE STUMBLED ALONG THIS PLACE !!! The place was packed with locals from the tiny little town for the lunch hour.  The staff/owners were very friendly and made some excellent recommendations. Mom liked her patty melt, girls enjoyed their bacon cheeseburgers & hubby and I LOVED the tenderloin sandwich the owner recommended.... it was delicious!!! We also had two of the small chef salads.... four sodas.... and three ice creams.... $40!!!! Great food, great price, great service!!!!

I was driving from Omaha to Des Moines and checked out the area for a place to eat at. I saw the other review and went and tried it. I got the menu, nothing special, but home-cooking. The specials were Chicken Salad sandwich or Ham Balls. Well I had no clue what ham balls were, so I had the chicken salad. This is not one of my favorites because normally it is very chunky, so bits fall out everywhere, and then people put stuff in it, like raisins or nuts, or celery. This was the BEST tasting sandwich I have ever had. The chicken salad was almost ground up and I could not tell you what was in it but wonderful. The coleslaw was sweet. The service was great. It was $4.50 for the sandwich and a tea, OMG. I am now moving from Texas to Des Moines, and will be going back here again. Stunning and thanks for sending a review in.
