Driving through town and decided to stay the night at a nearby campground.
I asked the receptionist at the campground where there was a good place to eat in town. Â She said "hands down" it's the Mesa. Â Okay, so we arrived and parked outside. Â Walked up to the place and we're trying figure out if it was a sports bar or Italian restaurant. Â There were two doors, but it appeared to be one place. Â A couple walked out of the Italian place and said to go there.
White tablecloths, candles ... Â Hmm, okay. Â We were seated immediately and brought water and breadsticks. Â Yum, those a tasty! Â We decided to order a bottle of wine since we were both drinking. Â The markup isn't too bad, but fair.
We both had Caesar salads which were very good. Â I had the lasagna and my wife had some shrimp scampi dish. Â Both were very good - the sauces were great. Â Decent size portions, so we took a little back with us. Â They even allowed us to re-cork the wine and take it with us as well!
Good service, friendly staff, quiet atmosphere. Â The meals were decently priced. Â Not a huge bargain, but they're not ripping anyone off either. Â I would definitely eat here again on my next stop through!
We passed it coming into town and noticed all the cars parked out front. We decided to go after we checked in. Quaint atmosphere only three servers running the place. You could go to the bar next door and eat dinner there too.
We stayed on the restaurant side and ordered a beer and ice tea. Cesar salad was great, they split the Menotti on two plates for us and it hit the spot! Garlic bread was good and we got a side of Alfredo sauce to go with, We then decided we should have gotten the Alfredo with chicken too.
Pricing was very fair and the entree came with a salad. We would go back and we do recommend. Careful, they close the kitchen at 9pm!
I like this place, though it's not my favorite Holbrook bar. The jukebox has a good selection (ask for "Holed up in Holbrook," the bartenders favorite and a song recorded just for them by a local band!...not available on CD, I asked!) and there are pool tables. You can order food at the bar or sit at the few, scattered tables. It comes from the Italian place just next door. The bartender is friendly and speedy. Nice, chill place.
