The infusions are awesome. I got the Subtle Tea - lemon honey infused rum served hot in a champagne flute with lavender water. The other infusions looked amazing, I had such a hard time choosing.
We stopped in for drinks while waiting for Peter Haven's across the street to open at six. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it wasn't at all busy on a Saturday night which I liked a lot.
Metropolis Wine Bar is THE place to head for an amazing drink and a sweet social scene in Brattleboro Vermont. While you can order from their ever changing beer selection, or get a great martini just the way you like it; the custom created infusions are one part of what keeps folks coming back again and again, both locals and those on a journey whenever they happen to pass through town. My favorite is the Pink Lady... a lychee fruit topped infusion served in a martini glass that I have to force myself to take slowly.
With a wine club for regulars to the bar, a comfortable and quiet downstairs lounge, and a great easy-going atmosphere and staff, it is amazing that they also provide one of the few places in the region to go and dance on Thursday nights, with an exuberant and welcoming crowd and great music!
I left my love of bars behind me somewhere in my 20's, but I still love a good lounge.... so friendly and casual and classy and private... if I am in Brattleboro, this is where you will find me!
Really nice little wine bar slightly off the main drag in Brattleboro. Â We sat at the downstairs bar and enjoyed a couple glasses of wine. Â The wine selection seemed a little small for a wine bar, but we both enjoyed our selections. Â The bartender was extremely friendly (and a former fellow New Yorker), and the crowd seemed to mostly be locals which was a nice touch. Â They also offer an impressive list of tasty looking cocktails and a nice craft brew draft selection, so I would recommend stopping by no matter what you might be looking to drink.
Review Source:This place is wonderful. Great atmosphere coupled with great drinks. There's an ever-changing set of artwork on the wall, coupled with very pretty decors. The drinks are perfect - pretty strong and super tasty. They have a very cool selection of local and international beers as well as every liquor I could imagine. Think 40-year-old Port.
Review Source:I happened to be in Brattleboro on business, and I wanted to eat at Peter Havens. They were full up, and I spotted Metropolis across the street. They had only been open a month (as Alyssa told me). It is first and foremost a bar, but an upscale one. Fascinating infused liquids that they make themselves, and quite a large wine list with nearly all obscure, boutique wineries. They did not have any Cabernet Sauvignon, but I tried a full-bodied Italian wine recommended by Alyssa that was delicious.
The menu is limited to tapas, but they were delicious and well thought out. I had no problem making a meal, with lots of variety. Try it out for something new, different, and good.
I came here with a local friend while I visited. This place is very much my scene! The upstairs is friendly with areas for groups of friends to mingle and laugh. Downstairs has a lounge with comfortable couches and chairs. Their wine selection is extensive, but I enjoyed a nice lemon cocktail that was expertly made.
I have no problems recommending this place on just one visit. You will like it, I promise!
