I thought the food was great for the price. I had the steak chimichanga and the steak was awesome. The Coronaritas were money - try one.
The service was good too. The waiter forgot one thing, but we had our two young kids with us so we asked alot. He came back and refilled drinks and was really friendly and helpful. I don't know what all the bad reviews are about...it's not like this is a $100 a plate restaurant. Â The food quality/service is good for the price.
Worst service ever, but it is not the first time. The only reason we go is because we love the food. They really just need to work on their service. Every time we go my husband and I joke on how bad the service will be. We might just start getting our food to go for now on. At least at home I get refills.
Review Source:I loved miguelitos before it closed down in Denton! I'm so sad it's gone now. The margaritas were amazing, and i loved their tortilla soup because they gave you the broth and you put your own stuff in it!
I loved the patio as well and the service was unbeatable.
I'm so sad it's gone, but would like to try the one in Krum.
I have lived in Krum for about 9 months now. I've eaten at both the old Miguelito's location and the new one a few times each. The new location is a big step up from the old one for sure. The new location has pretty comfortable booths (a must for my 6.9 hubby to be able to stretch out his long legs) and it's just a bit more "restauranty", the previous location was a bit..... eh, warehouse-esque. lol.
The Staff: I'm kind of torn on this.... Our waitress at the old location (we had the same one both times) was awesome, she was fast, refilled everything often and she was nice and even joked around with us and our friends. Buuuuuut on our first trip to the NEW location our waitor was horrible. He took forever to get anything to us; drinks, chips, salsa and don't even ask about how long it took to get our food. After a while another, more experienced waitor, took over our table so we could get some actual service. This guy was swamped and he didn't even skip a beat taking care of us after the disaster of our previous waitor. The last two times we've been there we've had the same waitress, she's ok. Not as bad as the first guy but not as good as the second. Only complaint I had about her was that she seemed to spend a little more time talking to my hubby than me and kept trying to give me diet coke when I asked for regular, both times!! I was like "Is she trying to say I NEED a diet coke or something?!" lol.
I MUST say though, the owner is totally amazing!! He is so friendly and when the first waitor was taking so long at the new place he brought us our drinks himself and he sent us home with a huge bag of limes when we asked for a couple to take home for the Dos XX's we had waiting for us at home. lol. Nicest guy EVER!
The Food: The chips and salsa are hands down, my favorite out of all the Mexican places I've been! The salsa is pretty hot but the flavors are so good and so fresh. I'm pretty sure they make it there themselves because it sure as heck tastes like it!
I love tamales but their's aren't the best I've ever had and half the time I've gotten them they've been cold.... the fajita's are definitely good but I'd choose the steak over the chicken for sure. The charo beans are yummy but I'm not a fan of the grey refried beans.... sorry!!!
Drinks: Ah, the drinks.... this is pretty much WHY we go there, besides the chips & salsa. We like to enjoy a good mararita every once in a while. Miguelito's is SO close to us and the margarita's are good and strong! Just don't get the frozen ones.... they're a bright green color, too sweet and pretty weak. But on the rocks you can't go wrong!
All in all I like Miguelito's..... For chips & salsa and drinks it's my go to place. Not my favorite place for actual Mexican food but we make compromises for how close it is to us. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Krum (it's the only one actually...lol.).
Arrived 5 minutes after restaurant opened. Â Seated immediately. Â No server for 10 minutes. Â And then server couldn't string together more than one request at a time. Â Other servers totally non-attentive to empty glasses on table. Â They didn't have anything else going on. Â Our group of 7 ordered basic Mexican food. Â Two of us had nachos, 3 had fajitas, one had tacos and one had enchiladas. Â 30 minutes to get food in a nearly empty restaurant. Â Other negative reviews of this place are spot on. Â I won't return.
By the way, one of the employees was sleeping on the floor of the men's room because the manager refused to send him home even though he was sick. Â Some lame excuse about no one else to cover for him. Â I don't want a sick employee near my food.
I am shocked with the poor reviews on Miguelitos on Yelp....totally shocked.
Why? Because I've been eating Mexican food for 50 plus years and Miguelitos is one of the top three Mexican restaurants I've EVER eaten at.....out of hundreds of different restaurants over the years.
The chips? Â Made fresh every three hours and still cooked in lard. Â Yes, lard. Â And guess what that lard does? Â It makes the MOST flavorful chip in the DFW Metroplex.
I've brought at least a dozen different people here over the years and the constant that everyone says again and again:
"These are the best chips I've ever eaten."
The quesadillas - both with fajita meat  and with shrimp - are off the charts delicious.
The guacamole? Â Sublime flavor that is good as it gets.
My favorite? Â The Carne Loco (crazy meat) plate - sliced thin marinated filet meet cooked with tomatoes and peppers. Â To die for. Â Truly.
You may read the other reviews and think this place isn't worth the trip. Â I live 27 miles away and I make the trip at least twice a month - and I've been doing so for the 11 years I've lived in the area.
If you like great Mexican food that is fresh, flavorful and plentiful - this is a place for you.
HIGHLY recommended....!
We visited after attending an athletic event in Krum. We are familiar with the parent restaurant in Sanger and have never been disappointed so we assumed the same for the new Krum location. Floor plan is the same but the ambiance is lacking. The Charro beans were quite flavorful but the shrimp served with the Ceviche had lost their chill. Service decent, but I found myself  jolted every few minutes any time anyone from a neighboring table scooted their wooden chair across the stained concrete floor, because they made an especially loud ScReeCH! They really need to get some pads for those suckers.
Review Source:I arrived with my daughter and her family. A group of 6. We were seated immediately. The waiter came and took our drink order. Â A few minutes later someone brought salsa. No chips. No water. No drinks. Finally the waiter came and took our drink order. Ten minutes later we asked a random waiter if they could bring some chips for the salsa. Our waiter came back and took our drink order AGAIN. We received our chips for the salsa soon after asking a coupl more times. Service was better somewhat after we finally got our food. I have had better Mexican food. I won't be going out of my way to go back.
Review Source:I feel badly writing a 2-star review for a meal someone else bought for me, but, I want to warn fellow Yelpers.
If you find yourself driving through Krum consider this review before you order at Miguelito's. Â If I ever go back to Krum, I think I will try the pizza place across the street.
Cons
1. The chips are not tasty. Â Thick. Â Not fresh at all.
2. We both ordered the Carnitas pork dish and they served us in error the pork strips with cactus dish. Â
3. One of my pieces of pork had a bone in the strip which I bit into. Â
4. The red salsa on the pork dish was runny and I think would have been more at home in a slasher film.
Pros
1. The salsa is one speed: ultra hot'n'spicy. Â Great if your tastebuds were lost in the war. Â Otherwise, ouchy-wa-wa.
2. Very cute waiters.
3. TV in half the restaurant for sports watching.
4. I hear they have great margaritas and I watched some get served but we were not on a mission to drink this night.
5. Affordable.
