You proved you CAN NOT COOK in the episode of Kitchen Nightmares and you SWORE you wouldn't step foot back in the kitchen. You did not even know how to cook a quesadilla saying"is this crispy enough? I need your help" really??? You needed help with a quesadilla?!?!? And now your gonna try to cook Gordan Ramsays menu? You now have forced your way back into the kitchen because of your EXTREMELY ignorant ways. Why would anyone set foot in your restaurant.
Stick to your friend slim, have another glass of whine with him and let your employees do what you can't. Unbelievable.
After seeing this place on Kitchen Nightmares I wanted to try it out while I was on vacation. What a waste of my time and money. I almost walked out and didn't pay because the food was terrible. I and my wife didn't even finish and ended up eating somewhere else. The owner Joe is an idiot for not listening to Gordon. Its his loss and I am sure that I will be seeing that this place closed down in the future.
Review Source:After watching Kitchen Nightmares, I could not wait to try this place out. I drove my wife from Greensboro, NC JUST to try it out. Sadly, I saw Joe back in the kitchen mistreating his staff. It was such a turn off. Obviously they did not learn a thing from the show. What a shame. I ordered the burger (dry) and my wife ordered the crab (decent) cap and the smoke chicken (no smoke and meat was pink) with veggies. We were too scared to say anything for fear Joe would come and yell at us. We just paid and left and went back to hotel and ordered room service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. But if you ignore my advice and still go, no worries. Cedar Point is not too far away so that you wont waste a trip.
Review Source:Last time I was there was last summer when in Norwalk for a funeral. I actually had a better time at the funeral than I did when we all went to Mill Street Bistro that weekend. Really bad service, REALLY bad food. And we were the only ones in there. I'm watching episode 2 of Kitchen Nightmares as i write this. Joe - you have a mental problem. I can't believe your staff just doesn't quit!!!
Review Source:Have been dining at The Bistro for over a year now. Â All I can say is FANTASTIC! Â Where else can you get tableside service in the area, I'll tell you, NOWHERE! Â The owner, Joe Nagy has it down cold. Â Outstanding food, service and value. Â At any given time his menu will have Bison, Elk, Quail on it, courtesy of his own ranch next door in Milan. Â Also raises his own Beef! Â I am conflicted writing this review as I want it all to my self but it deserves more! Â I have dined in some of the finest restaurants in the area and Cleveland and will put The Bistro Right Up There! Â I can tell you that the tableside options at the Mill STreet Bistro are unmatched anywhere! Â Do you like Ceasar Salad? Â Ask The owner to prepare one for you tableside(prior request is needed) and you will get an education! Â For a romantic evening out I would go to The Bistro over Che Franoise in Vermillion everytime! Â I have been to both and the Bistro wins hands down! Â Keep doing what your doing Joe!
Review Source:Had a fabulous meal and dining experience last night. Â We met with friends who frequent the restaurant and we were just so pleased with our visit. Â CLEAN, DELICIOUS FOOD, OUTSTANDING SERVICE, WARM ATMOSPHERE. Â When we go out to dinner, we look for places just like this, not a chain, just a great place to eat with their own style. Â Norwalk is lucky to have such a great place. Â Can't wait to revisit. Â Thanks Amy for the top notch service! Â I will send my Huron friends your way,! Â Sue
Review Source:Big city prices. Â
Slow as molasses inattentive service.
Miss the mark food.
We were there on a Tuesday night. Â The place was empty and it still took our party of 7 two hours for dinner. Â That's with no appetizers or dessert. Â We had to ask for more wine and for the salad plates to be cleared. Â
The food wasn't terrible, but there wasn't anyone at our table who thought it was great enough to warrant the price or a return trip. Â Sorry.
Had a great meal at this hidden gem in Norwalk. The stuffed peppers with elk meat were awesome! My filet mignon was cooked perfect and was served with locally grown baby carrots and red potatoes. Finished the evening off with a warm chocolate brownie. My wife had the pork chops and said they were the best she ever had. Great wine selection and the decor is really classy. Frank Sinatra was crooning in the background.
Review Source:Thank god for this place: fresh, interesting food using local ingredients, friendly service, warm atmosphere, and an excellent beer list. Â It's a substitute for my favorite Philly restaurants.
My favorites include the elk quesadilla, spinach salad, quail special, and the burger...but I haven't had a bad meal there yet. Â They've got microbrews on tap, and Duvel and Chimay on the menu. Â And the atmosphere is inviting enough to bring an infant, to have a romantic meal, or to bring a larger party.
I can't wait for the warm weather to take advantage of the charming outdoor seating. Â Now if I could just find decent Italian food out here, I'd be twice as happy.
Brought in by a local and what a treat! As mentioned in another review, a lot of local products used including meats and fish. Choices often include unique items such as Elk and Buffalo. Since it was summer the local produce was plentiful and delicious. The night that we were there I had the Walleye which was prepared perfectly. A lot of restaurants in Ohio ruin what is a very tasty fresh water fish, their preparation was excellent. Others had the lamb, pork chops, and steaks, all were excellent.
One of the better restaurants I've been to in northern Ohio for sure. The owner was a super nice guy and very proud of his business (he should be). Definitely recommend and will definitely return when back in the area. Â If you live in the area consider yourself lucky to be close to the place, this is a real gem.
I would give this place 4 1/2 If I could. I don't dream about ti at night, so no five stars. However, this restaurant and the amazing fabric store are the only two reasons I can be dragged an hour-and-fifteen-minutes away from my home and into Norwalk. I met my parents here for Sunday lunch to talk about recently becoming a fiance.
Food: fabulous flavor with small, unique twists that make the food feel special, even when eating an omelet.
Atmosphere: Used to be an old mill, so the walls are 2 foot thick stone, which they've left delightfully intact and exposed.
Service: Slow, not annoyingly slow, but rather the, it's Sunday sit-and-chat, feel-like-the-world-is-standing-still-and-waiting-Âfor-you slow. When I was hungry, my food was there. I can't complain.
Price: Not cheap, but worth every penny you spend.
Word to the wise: Make it last. Get dessert, but share it with everyone at the table.
What I don't understand: why it wasn't packed the moment it opened.
