The service is great as long as it's not super busy.  The place is very cute - restored, historic building.  The food was great!  We love the steak wrap, wings, onion rings, and chicken pita.  They serve local wine from the winery across the street, and have great beers on tap.

The nachos were soggy on top and overcooked on bottom. No idea how they cooked them to get that combination. As others mentioned the salsa is off the shelf Pace with a little something added - my guess is cherry juice. The fish tacos were fishy tasting as one would expect from salmon. Cod would be a better choice. The taco's side sauce is nothing but ranch + tomato + lime juice.  This may sound and look good at first blush, but all ingredients carry an air of lackluster quality. Thirty dollars later and we are driving to Rochester with a stomach ache wishing we had waited for an authentic Mexican dish.

Also, the restaurant building itself has great bones that should be exposed. The owner should remove the tacky signs and let the walls breath. The service was poor, but not for lack of trying - but because they were overworked. There was one waiter for the entire place on a Saturday afternoon.

My husband and I were staying in Cannon Falls and planning on going out for dinner/drinks with friends. Our friend said he made a reservation for the group.

Turns out they don't really 'do' reservations, so there wasn't a table large enough for our group. We had to sit in the overflow room, where we were told there wasn't a wait staff. We were disappointed because we hadn't eaten dinner...  Someone in our group knew someone who worked there, so they did actually end up serving us food then (the bartender came over to take our orders for food). The food was good- we had steak, mashed potatoes, and soup. The steak was actually very tasty (no need for steak sauce) and the soup was great.

Unfortunately, we felt like we were treated as if they didn't really want us there and didn't want us to order, so we felt pretty insulted. Even from early on in the evening, we just got a vibe that the bartenders didn't really want to serve us or want us there. (We never got to interact with any wait staff, as we weren't given any...) We were originally ready to stay until close and have a good time, but with the attitudes what they were, it was obvious that wasn't going to happen.

A welcoming atmosphere could really make this place a wonderful bar to hang out at. It looks really nice in there, it is comfortable, and the food is great. We just expect to be treated with more hospitality when we go out, especially if we are dropping a large amount of money. You shouldn't have to 'know' someone to get good service. I'd honestly give the place at least a 4 star review if the staff hadn't treated us so poorly.

Very good food, no issue at all.  They need to address the TRASH smell on the outdoor patio!  Put your trash bins behind a wall.  Built a shelter or something.  Its really awful.  Or don't offer outdoor seating.

Fish tacos are very good, btw.

My honey and I went down to Cannon Falls to look at some awesome barns and decided to go into town to try out the local fare.  The tavern has been updated meticulously and looks fabulous - it was clean and the server was fabulous...

I had the french dip and fries and loved it.  The bread was soft but chewy and the roast beef was delicious.  My honey got the Hickory Burger and said it was one of the best BBQ burgers he's ever had.

We will definitely be back soon!

I was in town and was sad by how limited my options are out here in Minnesota, but my friend and I picked this place and I am SO happy we did. The place is really good looking; big windows, vintage gas station-y signs on the walls, exposed brick, and only tables (no booths). Kind of looks like a regular bar, but was clearly more family friendly based on the clientele I saw in there. The place was packed and very staffed. Everyone had something to do and although it took some time for someone to get to us in between everything we needed, it was well worth the wait. The drinks are cheap (mine were 3.50-4.50) and the food is moderately priced (8-14) and absolutely delicious. It said in the menu that their ranch was famous and I can DEFINITELY see why. It was thick, creamy and extremely flavorful. It complimented my steak sandwich really well, so I could only imagine how good it'd be with the buffalo wings or the fries.

A lot of meals don't actually COME with a soup or a salad and are about 3 or 4 dollars to get a cup or bowl with your entree. It's also extra to switch your sides for something else. Just like everything else, though, it's completely worth it.

Head's up, they split their tips. I know that's a concern to some people.

We drive down to the Mayo Clinic every 4 months and the last 3 times we've stopped at this place for a beer on the way back to the cities. we've never eaten there yet but just wanted to say it is one of the friendliest places we've been to. the bartenders are funny and chatty. lucky for us we end up there during happy hour. $2 beers.

Some of the best fish tacos I've ever had!!  I was skeptical...but they were phenomenal.  Wild caught salmon, grilled and shredded into a couple of tortillas, with black beans and pico de gallo.  Little bit of cheese in the bottom, which was a bonus - not needed, but also not bad.  Don't know what the sauce was, but it was delicious to dip my corn tortilla chips in.  My only complaint - the salsa was clearly Pace out of the jar.  Didn't fit with the rest of the really delicious food.  Service was great, atmosphere was nice.  I'll definitely make a point to stop back when I'm headed to Rochester again!  The winery across the street is a nice perk too.

Ate here three nights in a row since the only other options in Cannon Falls are pizza, some more pizza or a dive bar.

Great: The female server who took care of us when our primary server had forgotten about us.  Also, the buffalo wings and Reuben sandwich! One of the best Reuben's I've ever eaten.

Good: Its environment and feel. It's not like your BWW with giant flatscreen TVs blaring at you with 10 different channels on at the same time. Two TV screens, lots of decorative and fun signage, tables that are clean and chairs comfy enough to sit in for hours.  The noise level is low enough to be able to converse in. Spinach salad with grilled chicken = delish!

Bahh...noes: Anything with seafood in it, especially the Joe's Whiskey Salmon and Po' Boy sandwich. Po' boy sandwich = hot dog bun-like hoagie with 6 shrimp in it.  Yay.  What made that plate even more disappointing was the mixed vegetables I asked for had leaked water on the plate, making the bottom half of the "hoagie" have the texture of a disintegrating wet kitchen sponge that stuck to your fingers.  Adding shrimp to your salad is $4 extra...for 4 shrimp. It was sad. With the exception of one server mentioned above, the other servers were kind of lousy.

TL;DR: Meh servers/food, with a few bright spots and exceptions.

How many small towns can support a bar that features live acoustic music many nights?  This place is a more upper class bar (read: music isn't blaring from a DJ like the other bars on a Saturday night), but had a great beer special when I was there in Bell's Oberon for $2.50.

I do wish the bar was bigger, but they have a great staff and the manager and bartenders really work make everyone feel welcomed.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a place to have some drinks and be able to carry out a conversation, this is the bar in town to hit.

The people who hang out here seem not to like newcomers.  The service is ok as is the food.  There aren't many places to eat in Cannon Falls, so it's worth a try.

In a restored turn of the century building on a side street in town, you'll find this place. Good local tap brews (I had a Summit Porter), decent atmosphere, nice cute waitresses.  Decent menu, but the day I was there, the kitchen was flooded.  All they had was Tortellinini Alfredo Soup, which was peppery good.  Good place to hang out for an afternoon or hit after you've ridden the Cannon Valley Trail or coming from skiing Welch.
