Miss Melissa's Cafe

Situated in downtown Moundville, Miss Melissa's Cafe is on-the-whole delightful and authentic without being grubby or unfriendly. Their meat-and-three is often stocked with a cornucopia of Southern favorites; I've had everything from short ribs to chicken dumplings to fried gizzards, and never have issue with side selection, which usually involves butter beans, mac and cheese, okra (they seem to keep things seasonal). As a result, my experience with the menu is limited, though friends I've dined with have done burgers, which looked competent, if not remarkable. Do yourself a service, and order off the buffet--hit them at the right time, and pear cobbler just might come with it.
