Monical's Pizza

Ok, I LOVE Monical's Pizza. I moved away and miss it and have to eat it every time I come back to town to visit my family. But I have to say, this location has gone down the hole. We went here Friday night, ordered 3 pizzas, breadsticks, a salad and a 2 liter of pop...it cost almost $75. When we went to pick it up, no one even acknowledged us even though they were standing right in front of us at the counter. Finally a kid asked our name and gave us our pizza. He took the money and finally got us our items...slowly...1 piece at a time. We stood there for 20 minutes while he got everything. We almost left 3 different times thinking we finally had our entire order.

We realized we didn't order an extra cheese for the breadsticks (what can I say, I don't share!!!) so we asked for an additional....fully knowing we would have to pay for it. My mom was already digging in her purse for a dollar bill and the kid said very forcefully .80!! Ok, mom almost had her dollar out when he repeated himself more loudly, as if we were expecting not to pay for this extra item.

When he finally got everything up there he never said a word, just left the counter and went to the back. No thank you, nothing!!! We spent a ton of money and did not even get a thanks or have a nice day!!!! Terrible customer service. The worst part is that he was the shift supervisor. They weren't busy, there weren't many order tickets in the window, it was just insane.

I'm very sad to see this, in high school we went here all the time. They were always wonderful and nice. However, I would avoid it at all costs if I were you! Go to the Paxton location if you want to get good service.

Eh, expensive pizza for cardboard flavor.  Used to live in town, now we moved to one of the sister cities and they won't deliver to me, even though they state that they deliver out of town.  Due to this, I've started to order from Pizza Hut because they will deliver to all of the surrounding towns and that makes life easier for me.  Recently went to sit inside with the kids and our bill was $45 for a large pizza and salad and pitcher of pop.  That's plain crazy!

I know this place is wildly popular in Central Illinois, but frankly I don't get it.  I used to order from them fairly often, but I got tired of it and now I don't patronize them at all.  They do some things well.  I like the comfortable and attractive interior of the restaurant. Their salad dressing is the best I've ever had (I love their Thousand Island.)  Their Healthy Heart pizza is great...almost a vegan pizza with minimal cheese, spinach, red pepper and garlic.  (A bit too much garlic..last time my daughter and I had it we still reeked the next day!)  I used to love their ravioli, but they changed the recipe and it now comes with a bacon-alfredo sauce instead of marinara.  Their chef salad was a disappointment last time, too.  It used to come topped with red pepper, but now it's just the usual iceberg lettuce and cheese.  Also, it seemed like every time I had something delivered, they screwed something up...they would forget the drink, or the breadsticks...always something.  Prices are crazy too...last time we ordered the family pleaser it was almost $30.00 including the delivery fee.  For a pizza and some pop and iceberg lettuce?  Are you kidding me?  But, I know I'm in the minority with my opinion about Monical's.  So many people do love it and enjoy it, so I'm sure they won't miss my business.
