Great food! Â This is the first place in Johnstown that we enjoyed. Â Well I am not sure if Morris's Tavern is right in Johnstown, but it is close. Â I would go there again! If you are into hunting you will like the atmosphere, Â they have stuffed deer, bear and other animals that are in glass cases.
Review Source:Another hometown favorite for me. I have been going there for years, since I was in high school actually. Â The restaurant is on one side, with a bar on the other. Â And yes, it is a bit of a low key, redneck place. There are stuffed deer and other critters all around, which were hunted by the owners and their family members. Â
The food is really tasty... I am a big fan of all the fried finger snacks (like the cheese balls and the jalapeno poppers) and the sandwiches. Â I think the price is very reasonable; even on the less expensive side compared to other places I have been to. Â The staff is very nice, and the food has always been hot. Â Sometimes it takes a little while to get your food, but if you are not in a hurry, its worth the little wait. Â This mostly happens when they are busy. Â I'll warn you... it gets PACKED after Forest Hills High school football games! Â But it is a really great place to meet up with old friends and have a few drinks.
Another good bar & restaurant, serves bison burgers and an awesome piece of fish that drapes over the edges of the plate.
WARNING: Their decor "theme" consists of an incredible number of taxidermied hunting trophies. You can find yourself eating your dinner with a stuffed grizzly bear looming over your shoulder. Probably not a good bet for a date with an animal rights nut.
