This place is a hidden gem, in the back of the Mercantile hotel in McCloud. Â Highly recommended are the breakfast burritos and turkey wrap sandwiches. Â These stalwarts are complemented by a rotating assortment of terrific baked goods such as scones, muffins etc.. and the best full barrista operation I know of anywhere near McCloud. Â Espressos, lattes etc. are all rendered flawlessly, as is a good solid cup of joe. Â Note also the Virgil's root beer and full ice cream service. Â
Most everything is organic, and there are vegan options if that matters to you. Â Cool, charming ladies own and run the place. Â Might just be the times I go in, but I usually get Rebecca at the counter and have a great conversation along with the food...fine way to pass the time as their magic can take a few minutes to whip up. Â See you there, be sure to scope the amazing architecture and restored interior details of the Mercantile.
Could I really be the first person to review this place? Why would everyone passing through McCloud not eat here? It's got a small selection, but everything was fresh and delicious, obviously made with good organic ingredients - great quiche and muffins, fresh scones, an excellent quesadilla, good coffee. Like most places in the McCloud/Shasta region you'll find slow-paced but very friendly service. It's in the architecturally interesting old Mercantile Building downtown and even has free wi-fi.
