Been meaning to write this forever'. Went to Mr B's early on a Saturday with a large order of beef, ham, sausage and several sides. Â Not only was the service fast but it was very affordable. Â Everything was incredible and delicious! Â All my relatives enjoyed it and there were no leftovers. Â You have to make sure you're looking for B's or you will drive right by. Â It's also worth the short drive if you exit off I-20 and go into Grand Saline. Â Thank you so much!!!!!
Review Source:Stopped at Mr. B's on our way out east to the ranch... Heard the brisket was good; I didn't really think so. Too dry for my taste, but the sauce improved it. I had potato salad and some Texas toast which were unremarkable.
Now, although I'd only give the food two stars, the place gets a third star for ambience - they have one of the best collections of Random Americana I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot for Texas.
The true highlight of the experience was the staff, who regaled us with a Texas-sized tale of hunting the local hogs, who sounded like the legendary Bumpus hounds. Or maybe it was the hunting dogs that sounded like the Bumpus hounds. Either way, I might just go back to hear more.
I've been to Mr B's several times (my folks live nearby). It is decent bbq. The brisket is always tender. I like it best on a sandwich with minimal sauce (sauce is a little too sweet for me).
Order at a walk up counter, very easy. Pay as you leave.
Alas, not the be all and end all, so I will continue my quest for great q.
Best thing: Fried Pies. No matter what flavor I get, delicious.
