Mt Mitchell State Park Restaurant

I really enjoyed it, but it was nothing special. Only slightly overpriced. Good food- they were out of a lot of things, but considering the busy day and the fact they close in two weeks for the winter, it was no big deal. Our waitress was friendly, though being visibly stressed over the massive amounts of people who had visited that day. Beautiful view. I recommend it.

Edit: OH! Delicious hot chips! and our sandwich was served with a pickled green tomato slice.

Having properly lowered (non-existent) expectations, my boyfriend and I ended up at this restaurant because we just came off a hike and needed some food and warmth. The food was nothing to write home about but it was adequate for filling up two hikers and the view from the restaurant is quite nice. I had the chili, it was a decent dish.

A family seems to be running the place and during the summer it seems that the teenagers in the family help out as waiters and busboys. The service is friendly and I enjoyed having a young man explain the classical southern soda Mello Yello to me.

If you are up on Mt. Mitchell and need a bite to eat, I recommend checking out this place or at least get a cup of coffee and rest here for the view and the chance to get out of the wind/rain.
