What a good way to start a cozy Sunday morning. We sat outside to enjoy the early morning mist and the view by the river. Our server Lisa was such a sweetheart. She was sweet and very attentive to our very need. We had the Omelette Of The Day which had tri-tip and cheese, along with breakfast potatoes and rye bread. Minus a star for a so-so cappuccino. Yummy Chocolate-Filled Beignets capped the meal. We enjoyed this tranquil getaway. After this relaxing breakfast, we were looking forward to our wine tour at Hendry Vineyard and Winery.

Napa General Store is phenomenal! The food, service, location, atmosphere, and price is wonderful. But by far the one thing that truly makes the Napa General Store as amazing as it is, is because of the General Manager Noi Boatman. She makes everyone feel so welcomed and great about themselves. Noi is a gift to all.

I wanted to LOVE this place. It is so cute, had a great patio, and allegedly Zagat rated. . . .

Bottomline- we were very VERY disappointed.

The service was not good. It took forever to get seated, take a drink order, get our food, get the bill. None of the staff looked happy to be there.

FOOD was not good- not bad either but with so many other great places in the area NOT worth it.

Nice location, friendly staff, decent food, but man is it expensive. $12 - $15 sandwiches is a tad much i think. Heck the ice tea is $3.50 a glass! I'm all for businesses making money, but this is a bit much.

Came here on Father's Day. The waitress notified us that the kitchen was backed up and breakfast might be a while. An hour and a half later (no typo!) it's lunch time and we're eating overlooked eggs benedict and bland potatoes. Every cook knows eggs benedict are supposed to be runny. Toast isn't supposed to "do battle with [your] teeth" as my sister so eloquently put it. When a table of 6 can't find anything decent to eat off anyone's plate, there's a problem. This place is overpriced for the quality of food they offer. The waiters are nice, but the service is unreasonably slow. You're better off going to iHop - or wait for lunch and go to the place next door, which was bustling with customers.

Napa General Store has both a cafe and a wine bar inside, but we just came in to shop for touristy souvenirs. My wife and I both like Christmas ornaments to commemorate our trip. We found a fun reindeer ornament made from Napa wine corks. Perfect!

Being able to shop in a nifty little store with offerings of fabulous earrings, soaps and other chatzkas while waiting for your Wine and Salad is one of the greatest aspects of Napa General Store....Service was good, food was fine but dining outside with my pooch is always so important to me! Perhaps they should consider using linen napkins rather than the paper as the wind can be brisk at this lovely restaurant overlooking the Napa River. I'll definitely return.

Truly delicious wine selections and at an amazing price. GREAT VALUE. Plus a cute vintage store and outside gorgeous outside seating in front of the river. Will def. be coming back when in Napa. They do close early i think.

Eleanor Roosevelt kept this poem in her pocket:

"We may live without poetry, music and art:
We may live without conscience, and live without heart:
We may live without friends: we may live without books:
But civilized man cannot live without cooks.
He may live without books, what is knowledge but grieving?
He may live without hope, what is hope but deceiving?
He may live without love, what is passion but pining?
But where is the man who can live without dining?"

That sums up how I feel about eating at Napa General Store. I come here hungry and with the desire to have someone else shop, some one else cook, some one else take those dirty dishes away. clean them, and bring me anything else I ask for. I believe it was Dudley Moore, playing the role of Arthur who said: "Aren't waiters wonderful? You ask them for things and they bring them!"

But more to the point, Napa General Store is a nice place to have breakfast or brunch. Located on the Napa River, right in the heart of downtown, they have nice selection of egg dishes, yogurt, and more. The seating is both inside and outside, and the service is prompt. If I had any complaint it is that the portions can be questionable on some dishes. My friend had the French toast and I had to wonder "Where is it?" And while my omelet was very, very good, it was a little small.

Still, I've been back here many times and I imagine I'll be back again. So long as there are reasons to visit Napa (and I can think of many) a hungry person will need to feed. Napa General Store will do.

We had breakfast here, the ambiance was great ( river front). The food was pretty good and service prompt. Most importantly my friends really had a good time and we got free mimosa's with check in

Really enjoy this place for breakfast and lunch. Not as expensive as most places in Napa, great patio seating on the river. The food isn't incredible but its tasty and the portions are generous. Breakfast was hearty and coffee was great!

Recently revisited General Store because my brother in law wanted breakfast in a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace. I was hesitant but glad I went back, it was a totally different experience. We were seated right away by the wood burning stove at a comfy table with lots of space. Our waitress was prompt and curious and kept brining us refills of coffee and water. We both ordered the spa omelet and it was perfect. Just a nice, simple breakfast with great food and service.

Quaint little restaurant and store along the river- good food- but prices are higher than quality and quantity you get. A mimosa is $10- just for one.
The salmon flat-bread was awesome though. They have a nice area for patio seating though- which is really nice.

This place is amazing! The outside view is beautiful . I would recommend to purchase better quality of tables for outside dinning. They are bit wobbly and too low. We were having breakfast with close friends. I ordered french toast and mimosa. Very tasty! Also, love the general store to help with creative ideas for a special gift in remembering Napa.

Our server wasn't very attentive. Maybe because we had a coupon from Yelp about the free mimosa. Either way, we were visitors from out of town trying to experience the beautiful Napa valley. May visit this place again.

The eggs bennedict are fabulous, the coffee's really good, and the cornmeal pancakes- YUM. The outside seating is very nice in the warmer months and they are dog friendly, which is great. If you're looking a good, solid breakfast spot in Napa, this is it.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try for Sunday lunch. When we first walked in, we had a hard time finding the hostess or anyone concerned with our well being, took us about five minutes to get a table in an otherwise empty restaurant. We sat outside at the children's table, the table was vary low, small and uncomfortable to sit at. The food was just okay, lacked seasoning. I had the smoked salmon flat bread, once again it was just okay, it lacked flavor and was rather bland. My wife had the calamari, way under seasoned and vary bland other than the taste of old seafood, I was actually shocked with the fishy taste, I have never had calamari that tasted that fishy. Had to ask for the bill twice and it still took fifteen minutes to get it. With the amount of other restaurants in the area to eat at, we will not be back.

If you're looking for kitchen goods or creative wine racks, this is a good place to shop! They also have a wine bar to do tastings if you're interested, and a cafe to order food at. I didn't like the knick knacks they were selling, so was a bit disappointed, but at least they have a clean restroom!

Downtown Napa is pretty neat...where modern (places like Morimoto's) meets historic (places like Napa Inn and the General Store). There's a variety of things to look at and buy in the front and in the back there's a restaurant/wine tasting area. I kind of randomly came across the store as I was walking around the Napa River area.

This review is for breakfast only.

They get all the stars because I was allowed to shop with my doggie. I had brunch on Saturday morning with my dog outside on the patio. It was a chilly morning and we were the only ones out there for a while. The service was prompt, they brought water for my dog, coffee (& refills) for me. The patio is spacious and looks out on the (dried up) river. Several joggers passed while we were there.
The free mimosa was a nice treat, at $10 a pop normally I would not have ordered one.
I had the Eggs California to eat. Basically eggs Benedict with avocado. It was good, the only change I would make is not to refridgerate the avocado... I didn't like that it cooled off my eggs!!

Took my girlfriend here a few weeks ago. The Service was good, and I enjoyed the food I ate, but it wasn't "Knock your socks off" great. it was just okay. I had a scrambe with cheese and other things and toast, and coffee and she had pancakes and bacon
and the food looked good but it was just "eh Okay"
The Tables were too small, and I had trouble balancing my coffee and food, we had to put the condiments on the window sil. I felt like I was sitting at a kiddie table.
They have a large gift shop...so you can see they cater to tourists, and care more about the money than the food. I like the place okay, but I doubt I would remember it well enough to go here again. If I went to Denny's I would at least have a human size table with my food.

This is a breakfast review.

Saw some good reviews and like the description of the place. Reminded me of some of the cabin stores you find in the Midwest around the lakes. This place is situated near the river that runs through Napa and is a part of the historic mill. There's a parking lot right in front, and the entire first section is full of different items for sale, like the old general stores back in the day.

Interior was gorgeous and the wine bar looked inviting (except that it was 9ish in the AM). There's a little patio area that looks over the river with umbrellas and such, I opted to sit out there.

The location and building are beautiful, but everything else is meeeeeeh. Service was slooooooow. I was visiting on my own, not certain if that was a factor, but it took FOREVEr to even get a table and it wasn't until a small group showed up that they even acknowledged there might be people waiting.

Menu selection is a bit limited, prices were decent, until I got the food and saw that you don't really get a whole lot. Spinach and goat cheese scramble was really tasty, toast and potatoes weren't so great. Had a 50% off mimosa check-in yelp offer. Opted not to use it because mimosa's were $10 each. No thanks.

Probably won't go back for breakfast, may consider lunch in the future.

This became our little "local" spot while we were recently in Napa. If you are looking for a quaint patio, moderately priced place for breakfast or lunch this is it.

We first tried it our first day for for lunch and the food was really good, and they have a nice cozy patio as well.

We went for breakfast the next morning, and breakfast was great as well. We were surprised when checking in on our phones they had a deal through FB for a free mimosa, so it was a great start to our first day of wine tasting :) Our server Noi was super sweet and told us about other specials they had going on, including a 2-for-1 tasting through yelp and more about their tasting room.

I get what people had said about feeling like it's a bit "touristy" with the front part being a gift shop, but I do feel it goes along with the name "Napa General Store". The gifts are nice wine related gifts and not tacky tourist magnets or key chains or anything like that.

Our last day we went for a tasting and they only carry local, boutique wines. The tasting room server Thom was very help and knew about interesting things about each wine, beside the varietal and tasting notes etc...Each wine they had was generally only produced in 500 cases or less a year.

So basically good food, good prices, fun wines, and excellent service!

Just OK, new server so I will not go 1 star. Weak wine list. Burgers and sandwiches looked good. I had chicken in a clay pot. A mess of a dish. Like Yosinoya (sp?) but worse.

Good location, needs work.

This might be my favorite tasting experience yet! We bought the Napa tasting card deal, which is what brought us here. It's a gift shop, typical tourist spot with a whole slew of some unique wine themed gifts - others not so unique. There is also a restaurant in the back - we did not eat here. But the wine, let's talk about the wine.

Wait, let's talk about the somalier. His name was Joe and he was fantastic! He was so much fun and so interesting. Now the wine. They sell small, boutique style wines - many with less than 200 cases being produced. Good and bad. If you try something you like, you have to buy it there and you better buy it then, because their offerings are often changing. Good because you get to try wines you may never have the opportunity to try otherwise. We tried some FANTASTIC wines - whites, reds. Joe took the time to really talk to us about the wines and educate us. It was really a GREAT experience. He even made us a custom blend which was fabulous. He really knows his stuff!

This is a place I would definitely come back to EVERY TIME I am in Napa because their selections are always going to be changing - but I would make sure Joe is there!

Don't let the name of this place fool you. It is not a typical general store. It is a high end gourmet store with arts and crafts, home goods, and food items. They also have a cafe. We didn't eat, but the food looked fantastic.

We went there to sample some wine at their wine tasting bar. Our bartender, Joe, was also the manager. He was one of the nicest people we met in wine country. He made us feel at ease and really taught us about different wines.

We bought the Downtown Tasting Card from him. I definitely recommend this card if you are going to be in town for a couple days. Some of the places on the card are better than others. At the Napa General Store, it included 5 tastes of wine. Joe admitted that math was never a strong suit for him and we got a couple more.

The tasting bar at the Napa General Store would be absolutely nothing special if it wasn't for the amazing personality of the person working behind the bar. Take the time to go say hi to Joe while in Napa!

Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Was pleasantly surprised to see such a cool show with a whole patio and I door eating area set up.

Then had an outdoor bar set up with beer, nice wine, great apps. Then on to the I door seating area with a great buffet style set up with a nice Asian spread.

The owner and staff were very accommodating. The food was fantastic. The setting and ambiance was very Napa, quirky and cool. A couple times we just got up and browsed the store. Plenty of interesting things see and buy.

We came here for breakfast. We'd eaten at the Soscol Café the day before and, though I loved that place, I figured we should try as much variety as possible. Little did I realize that we'd walk into Martha Stewart's fever dream hallucination of what a Cracker Barrel might look like to her.

We ordered eggs, toast and bacon. It was nothing special since, really, it was eggs, toast and bacon. I thought about using the Yelp offer to score us our free mimosas, but after spending two full days drinking Napa Valley bare, we decided to start a little slower that day. That was probably a mistake since a mimosa would've made my eggs, toast and bacon a bit more impressive. Three stars.

After we strolled along the riverfront district http://media3.px.yelpcdn… our next stop was at the Napa General Store for a little window shopping. The gift store was neat. It looked like they stocked everything about the Napa valley wine country experience. They had brochures, posters, postcards, gorgeous canvas oil paintings, jewelry, decorative wine stoppers, wine bottle openers, soap & lotion, sandals, souvenirs and much more.

This store had a Café where you can sit down, relax and enjoy a nice hearty meal. When I "Checked-In" I got a 1 free Mimosa offer with any breakfast, which I saved for a future visit.

Pretty cool place...

This place isn't quite for stars, but not quite three stars either. More like 3.5 but (YELP!!!!!) that is not an option. Anywho, Napa General Store is kinda weird. It's like a home decor place in the front which seems really weird that you're there to eat? It's even more weird when you sit down if you're facing that part because it's like "Is this a restaurant or a store" When you keep reminding yourself that it is both, you wonder why you're there. Then the food comes and you know exactly why you're there!

They make some damn good french fries at this place. I had a blackened salmon sandwhich whic was really really good. My boss has a gigantic salad which she really enjoyed. I had like the never ending teacup which I thought was great since it was rainy outside. The patio is very nice for eating in better weather. It's also much easier to forget you're at a store. But it's a restaurant?

They have a pretty diverse menu. Randomly, they have Pho, but then some also very french bistro style stuff and also flatbreads and salads and burgers and sandwiches. Pretty much something for everyone.

I'd definitely go back. It's reasonably priced, in a convenient location and the service is good.

I love the retro idea of grabbing a bite to eat in the back of an old timey general store, its so... Mayberry. Then once you get to your table you see that you've actually got a front row view of the river, and on a clear day this is the place to be!

But as for the food.. meh. There was a specialty appetizer on the menu of spring rolls with oyster mushrooms that fell pretty flat. Then came the Reuben, which was fairy standard tasting and the Italian pizza. The pizza was topped with a great tasting sausage, but everything else was just OK. Still might be a great place to grab a drink and take a look at some souvenirs.

Roam around and stumbled upon Napa's General Store.

I like the feel of this place when I walked in. You know how some places give you a good vibe....this one did it for me.
Half of the back store is a restaurant in which you can have lunch or dinner.
They had T-shirts, soaps, lotions, and miscellaneous trinkets. I ended up getting the post cards to send to friends. Nice, clean store with a bit of everything.

On a nice day, it sure is a splendid experience to take your lunch out on the deck at the Napa General Store. An occupant of the Hatt Building along the Napa River, the General Store is almost like an upscale food court. You can choose from several areas inside the store for ordering up your meal. The pizzas are yummy, the sandwiches are good and the salads are fabulous. There's also a coffee area offering made-to-order coffee drinks and some pastries.

The Napa General Store also offers some fun retail therapy that ranges from bath products and home decor to gifts that include coffee table books with very different perspectives of the area and the world (how about a book of lost dog posters from around the planet?). And it wouldn't be a Napa Valley establishment without a place to taste wine!

Make them part of your next visit to the area:
http://www.napageneralst…

On a historical note:
The General Store is an occupant of the historic Hatt Mill. This structure underwent a major renovation in recent years. The building now boasts several fine eateries and a boutique hotel. When I was growing up, we used to come here to buy dog food and chicken feed! I guess it stands as further evidence that Napa has come a long way.

The last thing you want to hear a waitress say is "brain fart." Ick.
The service here was slow and erratic, but the food was tasty.

Excellent thin-crust mushroom pizza and a decent noodle salad -- the tofu was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, but I do question the use of fish sauce in a "vegetarian" dish.

They have some pretty foodie-friendly gifts in the shop up front and some wines for gifting or drinking later, but nothing really caught my eye.
