We had our anniversary dinner here tonight. I must admit, when we pulled into the parking lot, I was not impressed. But that was the last time. Our waitress Shar was fabulous, very friendly and attentive. In fact, we asked about buying some of their homemade cheese spread to take home and this dear lady chased us down as we were leaving to give us a doggie bag with spread and crackers. The food was excellent, especially the homemade potato salad on the salad bar. My husbands ribs were flavorful and falling off the bone tender. My crab legs were great. When you order a baked potato they bring cheese, sour cream, butter and chives right to your table for you to choose your toppings. Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this hidden gem!

Review Source:Another year and a visit on our last night in the area. Â Great martini to start, great salad bar with homemade dressings and the perch dinner was great. Â My husband had the ribs and said they were OK. Our son's dinner was fine and my sister had onion soup and salad bar. Â The service is great and the place is a nice change from all the tourist spots. One of my favorites!!
Review Source:We stopped here on a recent visit to Mackinaw due to the yelp reviews. Â I feel like this is one of the first times that Yelp has let me down. Â I gave it 3 stars because what we experienced was not pleasant at all - but we never got to eating. Â We ended up walking out. Â I didn't want to give it lower, because sure maybe the food is fantastic. Â But I wanted everyone to be able to have the information that we didn't.
We pulled up to the building and it looks like someone's house. Â It is definitely off the beaten path and past some questionable looking hotels. Â We gave it the benefit of the doubt, due to the reviews. Â We walked inside (past the AAA approved sign) and were surprised to see that there was exactly 2 people (1 table) inside. Â It's never a good sign when there is no one eating there. Â Again, we decided to wait and see due to the glowing reviews. Â The greeter practically ran to greet us and ushered us to a table.
The tables were covered in nice cloth tablecloths with cloth napkins. Â We sat down and were immediately given water....in dirty glasses. Â The waitress started by telling us the goblets were just old and scratched, which we understood, but them she looked closer and agreed that 3 of them at our table were actually dirty. Â She took them away and brought us new ones.
We looked at the menu and realized this was not for us. Â The menu was very limited, mostly with fish. Â There were no sandwiches/burgers of any sort. Â The prices were also a little on the steep side. Â One of the cheapest things on the menu was $15. Â Steaks were closer to $30. Â I understand that sometimes things are more expensive, especially when they are high quality. Â But the lack of choices combined with the dirty glasses (and silverware) we decided to apologize and find somewhere else to eat for dinner.
Awsome restaurant. Nice atmosphere and great food. Had their daily special, Smoked Pork Chops and it was perfect. They got their meat from a butcher and it shows. It was cooked just right. Served with a small loaf of warm bread and the salad bar was fresh. I had their homemade Ranch  dressing to beat no other. Found out that it is family owned and the mother has had her hand in it for years. The price is moderate and well worth every dollar spent. It's just outside of the main drag of Mackinaw City a couple miles but not out of the way. Well worth the visit. We will be back!
