Quintessential college pizza, not the best, but plenty good! While we went pizzas were $5. Â I think it is for all of July 2013 ... Incredible value at that price for sure. The drinks are good, they have big screen Ty's if you're looking to watch a game and there are plenty of seats at the bar, tables or booths depending on what you're looking for.
Review Source:this place kind of has it all. cheap drinks, tasty pizzas and a host of great day and late night happy hours. The staff is always friendly and they always have sports on the tv (if that is your kind of thing.) The best thing ever is the $5 pizza deal everyday in July. I mean, does it get better than that? My favorite pizza is the pulled pork pizza, but you really can't go wrong with any of them.
Review Source:Stopped in the other night for dinner with my roommate and let's just say, we've found our new favorite place to eat!
Sat in the bar & managed to snag a booth. The ambiance is quite nice! We were dressed casually but you could easily get away with something nicer... but then again, it's Bellingham. The waitress was really friendly, offered great suggestions, & quick service!
We ordered caesar salad, a large "Central Park", & a couple of drinks.
Can't wait to visit again soon.
Went here for the first time for a Saturday night Happy Hour. Ordered a drink and two appetizers and was pleasantly surprised. Their cheesy bread was fantastic! I just wish they gave us more boneless wings and less celery, but nonetheless it was still delicious. Considering how busy it was getting, the waitress did a great job of bringing our food out promptly and checking back to see if we needed anything. I will definitely be back for another Happy Hour!
Review Source:The pizza here is solid - the best in B'Ham in my opinion. Â The beer is exceptionally cold and the service is usually very good. The bar can get crowded especially during games. Â There can be a lot of Western students here but they're the good kind who will turnout to be responsible adults.
Review Source:Sitting in my tiny allegiant airplane seat, with my carry on fully stowed under the seat in front of me, flying in over the Puget Sound into Bellingham...I had but one goal! Get off this mother and get to NY Pizza & Bar stat for drinks and friendship! Back in my old stomping grounds, It's the pace to be for happy hour, pre-funking, and general shenanigans! Located downtown on State Street, don't miss it if your visiting and if you're local..well, I'm jealous.
I arrived in all my SoCal tanned glory and was immediately scooped up by some of my most feisty and dearest friends. We corralled around one of the comfy large tables on the bar side in the back. The restaurant features both a dining side and a bar space with plenty of TV's and booths, spacious and modern. Service was prompt and friendly!
Glasses of wine, cocktails, and kankle jokes all around! (Urban Dictionary: Calves that become feet without taking an ankle break) I ordered the Mongolian Beef (tossed in a teriyaki glaze with sesame, green onion, and yummy crisp wontons. Not overly salty thank god, I cleared the plate! Delish! My brother has the salmon salad and it looked amazing! If you have the chance, try happy hour sometimes, the menu is a killer deal! Bottomless fries and pulled pork nachos?? um yes please!
The vibe picked up and it was raspberry lemondrop shot time! Nicely done Mr. bartender! We didn't even realize how late it was as we headed off to the local pubs n clubs-we could have stayed at NYP&B all night. Thanks for the sassy welcome home NY Pizza!
I went to New York Pizza & Bar twice in one week, so this is like two reviews in one.
My first time at the restaurant we had a huge group of people for my friend's birthday and the waitresses were great. Â They checked on us frequently and we got our food pretty quickly considering how many of us were there. Â I ordered the 10" Pacific NW Pizza (pesto sauce, tomato, spinach, garlic, goat cheese, and salmon) which was just as delicious as it sounds! It was $14 and I would definitely order it again. I also got a pint of Rolling Rock which was less than $3, pretty cheap compared to other places. The jello shooters kind of tasted like kids medicine, but that's to be expected. I also had a Long Island Ice Tea and it was tasty.
The second time I ate at the restaurant I was feeling cheap so I ordered the NY Nachos ($9), but honestly I was kind of disappointed. Not enough chipotle sour cream and the cheese became cold and hard very quickly. It tasted like something I could make at home for much, much cheaper. Â Again I had a Rolling Rock and also a Washington Apple, which had way too much Crown Royal and not enough Apple Pucker so it didn't taste that great.
Next time I will go for the pizza again! Oh and definitely try to go during happy hour because the prices on drinks are great.
Hands down, my favorite place in Bellingham. The Seattle location is good too, but this is way better. Livelier atmosphere, and better bartenders (they know their stuff.) I love the different themes of the weekdays and all the Happy Hour specials they offer. With two happy hours, it is really easy to catch one of them. They have happy hour specials for drinks as well as food and it's easy to get filled up for cheap. My favorite is Martini Monday. Get the shakers, they seem pricey but you get a lot of drink for your money and if you like sweet drinks then you will love most of these. My favorite is the Pixie Stick. They are also very accommodating for large groups if you plan/call ahead.
Review Source:This place has the best cheesy bread and pizza! Happy hour was good as far as prices go. The food and drinks were cheap! We stayed and chit chatted for a couple of hours and the service wasn't too bad considering how busy it was that night.
I will def be going back whenever I visit Western!
This is a pretty decent place ot come hang out with friends while dining on authentic New York style pizza and pasta. I like how they have a sweet rotation of daily specials. I like the atmosphere here. It's vibrant and refreshing. Coming here for lunch, dinner, or simply for a relaxing drink is always fun. Â I would not recommend the cosmos, but their dirty martinis rock!
NOTE: seems to be a rotating exhibition of fine art on the walls. Huge plus in my eyes!
This has become a regular neighborhood stop for me. The daily specials are great & the pizza is great. The Farmers Market is my favorite. But the staff is really what makes this place special, the service is always wonderful. Â Lunch with a large group went seemlessly, and we all had a great lunch & what we ordered. Eatting in the bar & catching a game is a great way to relax after work & bartenders are very entertaining. Twice daily happy hours & specials. Highly recommend!
Review Source:This review is for the bar's happy hour only.
There happy hour drinks aren't the best in the world, but at 4 dollars a whiskey double, you can't even really complain there. 6 dollar 10" veggie pizzas are the bomb though and 8 $ big pitchers of rolling rock make it a pretty ok place to watch a game and bro out to the maximum. I have had friends make some pretty obnoxious comments to the waitstaff here and they always laughed it off and continued to provide us with excellent service which is great if you need a cheap place to drink and be obnoxious, as most college kids do.
Don't get the happy hour margarita, I couldn't even finish it that was terrible otherwise they'd get 4 stars.
Okay the food was good- really quite good. But sadly the service was just not good the day we came. We had a large group, but the place was not even close to busy. Took over 15 minutes to get waters (only after we asked) This only continued as the lunch progressed. Slow service and lack of attention. Probably just my luck but I simply can't give it more than two stars for this type of experience.
Review Source:blech... when my friends suggest coming here, I just nod my head and smile. talk about a big, boring, nothingness of a restaurant. I would genuinely rather go to an applebees where there is a better happy hour and people are nicer. NY Pizza and Bar's food is not that great, service is not that great and prices are too high for what they are serving. Sorry, I'm just not a fan.
Review Source:Visiting from out of town. My wife, who is Italian from Rhode Island, loved the pesto sauce on the gnocchi. I had a taste and couldn't agree more. Â I had the queens supreme and was amazed at the toppings. If want a pizza were you can't see the sauce or crust this the place. Don't get me wrong it's good tasting dough but it's like the pizza we make at home you ain't gonna count the salami slices on two hands.
Review Source:I've been to the New York Pizza & Bar on a number of occasions in the past -- usually meeting a large group, but was in search of a late night takeout meal after Fairhaven Pizza had closed. Â I had a "taste for pizza", so I had already rejected the Pita Pit and Horseshoe Cafe, when I realized NY Pizza was open late!
While I waited for my take-out pizza order, I sipped a Boundary Bay Scotch Ale and signed up for their under-promoted E-Club (a loyalty program that saved me 50% on the pizza I bought last night and promotes NYP deals via SMS about once-a-week).
The pizza was great! Â And we've returned a couple of times since (twice in the last week) and the food has always been quite good. Â In addition to pretty good pizza (I still prefer Fairhaven Pizza, but NYP is a pretty good substitute), NYP serves a wide variety of pasta dishes and burgers, and features a full bar and the best happy hour prices in town!
This is a huge restaurant where the ambiance is pleasant enough, but hardly worth noting. Â The mostly carpeted floor space is divided roughly in half between the bar area (where patrons can nibble on some great appetizers or enjoy anything off the main menu) and the main restaurant which is divided into a couple of dining areas to break up some of the inevitable "warehouse size room noise".
Quick Take: Delicious food, great service, and good deals!!
Food: It was my first time here, and it was very difficult to make a decision because so many things sounded so good. I finally decided on a pasta selection, which was simply divine. Everyone's meal looked delicious and everyone in my group was quite pleased.
Service: Service was attentive and friendly. Our waitress was very friendly and patient when we were being indecisive, and made good recommendations.
Deals: We were there on Thursday and took advantage of some of the deals and specials. First of all, I ordered a margarita for $3. Then, because I had ordered a drink, I took advantage of the pasta special so I saved $6 on my Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo. $13 for a quality meal AND a margarita? Score!
New York Pizza is not just good to great food, it has the best service of anywhere in Bellingham regardless of price point. Every single staff member can and will help you with anything, my wife even caught a waitress cleaning a bathroom stall that needed help between keeping the majority of the lounge perfectly served. Â I have only had this level of service at 4 star or better restaurants and would recruit my own staff out of NY Pizza if I owned my own restaurant.
Now to the food. The offerings here are for the most part basic but with their own flair, which should be expected at a pizza place, but they do well with their takes and the value is excellent. The prociutto portobello pizza is a favorite and the pastas are above chain level yet below fine and are priced as such. The grinders are excellent and the kid's menu is great as it includes a good sized scoop of gelato for the $5 you can spend on the half dozen or so offerings.
All in all NY Pizza is a fantastic value with great daily drink specials and a nice happy hour, but service is paramount and if you care like I do, it makes you come back as much as the menu.
Now, dinner with my lovely wife.
Good happy hour food selection, and awesome weekly drink deals for a college friendly budget.
$6.50 Long Islands on Friday.... as if they weren't already dangerous enough.
The staff is young, outgoing, and usually pretty accommodating.  I came here the day after Halloween to watch the Hawks game with about 10 friends.  There was some confusion among the waitstaff as to where they'd seat us.  They finally put us in a banquet room, which turned out to be awesome.  Especially considering the epic loudness of my group.  Everyone was drunk, rowdy, and obnoxious... and  I would really hate to be our server.  Yet, she did a good job, and handled us very graciously!
The pizza is great. Â The HH pizza is a perfect bite to start the night (or end one) Nice and cheese, not extra greasy, and exactly what you want in a Pepperoni pizza. Â The salads are good, and their boneless wings were pretty tasty as well.
Ideal place to go with friends or family, celebrate a birthday, or to yell over a sports game.
It is essentially, The Red Robin for Pizza. Â I give them 4 stars for their awesome Happy Hour
This is one of my favorite place in Bellingham to meet up with friends. The bar is great for socializing on low key nights or watching games. The pizza menu has great variety with some unique aspects... All very good. I've had good experiences with other menu choices and the drinks are great as well. Keep your eyes open because this places has great deals featured each night of the week. Tequila Thursday is the best!
Review Source:Best pizza in Bellingham!!! And trust me, I don't say this lightly.
I have had a vegetarian version of just about every single pizza on their menu now (I eat here almost every single Tuesday for $7.00 10" pizzas) and have never had a pizza I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The toppings are fresh and plentiful, the thin crust is my favorite anywhere, and the pizzas are creative (with toppings like roasted corn, a cracked egg, goat cheese, portabella mushrooms...) Â
The $7.00 deal on Tuesdays is almost too good to be true. Some of the pizzas that you can get for that price are normally twice that much. If I eat something else on a Tuesday night, I feel like I am loosing money! Plus my mouth and stomach aren't as happy as they would be at New York Pizza. I should also mention the $2.00 well drinks (which are always strong!) on Tuesdays. That means a personal pizza (that often serves as lunch the next day as well) and two drinks for $11.00!
Pizza isn't the only thing they excel at. Mondays bring $8.00 burgers. I have only had one - the portabella mushroom burger. It was huge and juicy and perfect. My only complaint about this meal were the fries. Trust me, they are delicious and addictive, but the coating they fry them with cut the roof of my mouth pretty bad. I've talked to a few other people that noticed this. I think next time I'll go with the sweet potato fries.
Just like most places in Bellingham, the service can drag just a bit, but the quality of food and the price more than make up for it. It might not be the fastest service, but I haven't experienced any rudeness. They are also good with keeping my water glass filled, which is the best way to judge wait staff, in my opinion.
The one time they accidentally brought me a pizza with meat on it, they gave me free sweet potato fries to munch on while I waited in the bar for my new pizza. Awesome.
If you think Rudy's pizza is better than New York Pizza..... I don't even know how to help you!
Went back and was pleasantly suprised. They have obviously updated the bar waitstaff and I had a great time. I even had a hostess catch me off guard to refresh my drink, and I totally fumbled over my drink order and the waitress came to confirm just so I got the right drink. Good job.
Review Source:New York Pizza & Bar is a regular dinner spot for my friends and I. The eggplant parmesan is my favorite item on the menu. Very tasty!
As for drinks, the shakers are extremely tasty and may be a bit expensive on a college students budget, but their taste makes up for it... although I generally end up ordering only one because of it!
Definitely a fun atmosphere and a great place to hang out with friends for dinner. The staff is friendly and the service is great too!
WEAK! Sat down and waited for some time before anyone noticed us... Then ordered a beer. The server checked my Oregon ID. I told him the sticker over my address was the way the state of Oregon deals with a change of address. He kept staring at it. I asked him if he thought I was under 21 (I'm almost 30). He said that didn't matter.... Then he confered with his manager and came back and said he couldn't serve me. Nothing like being called a fraud by some guy slanging pizza. Â I suggest the business owner review with his employees how to use the Internet to look something like this up on a DOT webpage when these question come up.
Review Source:Specials aren't super great, especially for their martini's.
Pizza's pretty good. I really like the Empire State, but not any bigger than a 10 inch. Â Otherwise the avocado ends up making it too greasy = fatty stomach ache.
Salads are fine. Service is fine. Â Just kind of ...fine overall.
Nice place to come chill for a drink & enjoy an appetizer or pizza.
Very relaxing & clean environment
Several drink cocktail specials offered (someone said they've got killer drinks & also offer Jello Shots -- hey, maybe next time!)
Nice menus with a nice selection of food (they just added Gnocchi to their menu, too!)
Oh, and they've got GREAT wait staff that are super friendly, too.
I love the food here.
Since it has opened it has become one of my favorite restaurants in bellingham.
the drinks are mixed strong. the staff is friendly and treat you like you are a peer instead of greeting you with fake smiled and forced bubbly attitudes.
their menu is great, because it not only has traditional options like a standard pepperoni pizza, but you can also try a wide variety of more exotic pizza creations.
New York Pizza and Bar is AWESOME!
I've always had really good experiences with this place. Â
The drinks are really good and they have awesome specials on drinks all the time. Â
I've eaten here probably 10 times and everything I've ordered has been really good... Â the pizza is the best in town... and the FRENCH FRIES... OMG. Â Last time I was in my friends and I shared a Greek pizza and it was STACKED with steak and feta... so delicious.
When they first opened I definitely could tell and there were service issues, but it seems to have all worked itself out since then and I've had really great servers the last couple months.
Also... not sure what others people' standards are, but so many places in this town are so dirty and sketchy and New York Pizza is always so clean and there aren't crackheads sleeping in the bathroom, which is a big ++++.
I will DEFINITELY be back for some more pizza.
I was back again with friends and for a group of about 15 people just walking in on a Fri. night we had a table in no time (that should tell you a lot). This is one of those places I only go if out voted.
This time I tried the New York burger...it says on the menu its a 1/3 pound patty, but maybe they use a "pound" of their own creation that they keep in the back that is cut it into thirds, then they use one of those "justice is blind" kinda scales to measure it out ....nothing about it looked like 1/3 of an American pound... Â
Im a big fan of Bob's burgers here in town and they also serve a 6 oz. burger patty and remarkably their patty appears MUCH larger.... I wonder if they put air in it to pump it up, a mystery!
Regardless, of the size of the burger, it was just like my last experience here, 100% un-memorable, nothing about the food would make me want to go back, I am not saying it was bad, it was not, but when I go out to a restaurant I want food that is better than I can make at home!
I paid $10.00, for a burger that was average at best, again I have to compare it to Bob's, if you want a great burger, well...go to Bob's...hands down....nothing about NYP made me think even for a second, hmmmm giving Bob's a run for their money.
One other thing, being a large party and being one of those annoying groups that wants the check split up... NY automatically adds the tip onto the check.... and I have NO issue with that at all (frankly I think all restaurants should do it on split checks), except for the fact that the server does not MENTION it...(in all fairness it does state as much on the menu in small print, but who reads that) this is the second time I have experienced this and the first time I ended up leaving a really large tip as a result of not catching it, I would of done it again if someone at the table had not mentioned it was already included. I got service barely worth 15% not 30%
So FYI or you may end up double tipping your server, under those circumstances...something that I'm sure the servers quickly figured out was possible by not mentioning the tip was already included....
Overall I say, skip it...
If you want a Burger, go to Bob's
Pizza: Rudys or Lafiamma
Italian: D'annas
