I am on vacation from Southern California and visiting family in central New York. Â As part of a special occasion dinner, my cousins and I went to Nola's on Saturday, December 29. Â There were 7 people in our party and when we called in advance, we were told reservations were only taken for parties of 12 or larger. Â We went to Nola's earlier than we would have liked so that we would not have to wait for a table. Â
We were seated immediately and our server, Lake, couldn't have been nicer. Â The food was great and the timing of appetizers, salads and main courses was excellent. Â The entire group ordered dessert and coffee, as well. Â As we lingered over our coffee the bill was brought and we promptly paid. Â It was at this point that the bartender (who possibly was acting as manager that evening) came over to our table and asked us to leave! Â Her excuse was that they needed to seat another large party and we were welcome to continue our conversation in the bar. Â I was shocked and aghast at the rudeness of the request. Â Most of us hadn't even finished our coffee, and no offer of a complimentary drink at the bar was even offered in order to compensate or appease us after such an insulting request. Â
My family who lives in the Clinton area will never patronize Nola's again. Â There are many excellent, independent restaurants to choose from, and Nola's will not survive if they continue to value turning tables more than their paying customers.
