I'm reviewing this first as a music venue, and second as an organization.

First, the venue:  Gray Pine Farm is up in the hills east of Redding.  The grounds include a nursery that specializes in native plants.  There is a good-sized picnic area, and you can BYO food or opt to purchase a very tasty BBQ that GPF serves up prior to concerts.  They don't sell beer or wine, but you can bring your own.

The seating area is a grass lawn, well shaded -- you bring your own lawn chairs.  The covered stage is surprisingly substantial.  Greats sound, great lighting.  A very intimate, very cool setting.

Now, the organization:  The The OakSong Society for Preservation of Way Cool Music books mostly "Americana" music:  folk, bluegrass, blues, zydeco, alternative country, "true" country, old timey music, and the annual Hawaiian slack-key guitar show/luau.   They also book winter shows at Bernie's Guitar in Redding, where we've seen some great shows (e.g., Devil Makes Three), but the indoor venue pales by comparison.

If you live in the Redding area and you haven't been to a show at Gray Pine Farm, you don't know what you're missing.
